They encouraged this. Did they really think this would stop spoofing? The uptick in spoofing is all because of Shadow Raids on top of remote raid severity *and* premium pass reduction. Great post about drawing board which is exactly what I have been saying. I saw a couple options:
1) More proof of presence in game. There are options here not to be ignored. Besides AR mode high download VIDEO, they could ask for a picture to qualify a premium pass. That or they grant premium passes for AR photos/short videos. (ones that are smaller please). They could provide a super affordable or free version for AR video content. Photos do have geotags that are not easy to spoof. That’s VERY easy to implement on platform. (native C++ + the java). There are even tighter controls available here too. They could require local business “codes” on some gyms. These would be essentially like the parking validation/freebie for patronizing, not just being a warm body on the street, actually patronizing the business.
2) Go the other way and just allow remote raiding freely. Yes, it’s crazy but hear me out. You can still find other ways to design this.
Another thing I’m noticing is an increase in multi-accounting. My last raids have all been with triple and quadruple account players. I’ve been a stickler about not multi-accounting and not spoofing myself. I use a catcher and quick catch. That’s the extent of my being above average resourceful with the game.
Dude like it or not many of us have work family , l don’t have time to run with my kids to collect moons LMAO
Get a life and let others be
I disagree with spoofers, however, the drastic decline of niantic and the quality of life of pogo i actually support them.
I spoof but it is because the game is simpli unplayable, as an 15 year old kid I can’t go outside driving or walking in to the city to go catch pokemon or even using mi daily insence, so it makes pokemon experience really unfair and borring also as a home schooler it is even harder to just try playng without spoofing.
Imo I think there should be an item you gather that makes raid bosses weaker to where it’s easier to Raid
I am a spoofer on my second account simply due to the fact that I am studying in Russia and they close all their servers here because of the war, it’s all good for me. I can still play community day by teleporting in Larissa and later on i can just trade with my main account. I’m not the type that snipes for strong IVs,it just ruin the whole game for me
I will recument everyone to spoof
i wanna spoof lol,
Spoofing is without question more beneficial than it is a negative. Anyone who has issues with spoofing is just irrationally jealous. What does it matter to someone else if someone is spoofing? It has not negative effect on them at all. Does it stop you from getting a Pokémon or medal that you want? Nope. In fact. It can make getting pokemon(aka raids) easier and more efficient. You should be THANKING them.
There’s literally nothing wrong with spoofing. It doesn’t effect legitimate in a negative way at all. Only in positive ways.
As a spoofer, i single handedly clear out everyones pokemon around the shopping center/mall gyms nearby when i see they’ve been in for a while. This cycles their pokemon out for 50 coins. And for me, I pretty much get 50 coins everyday. This cycle continues consistentIy. I have always played this game spoofing and its been nothing but beneficial for me and everyone around me. I can get regionals/ Raids/Trade with long distance friends. The list goes on. Say what you want about spoofing but you take me out and any good willed spoofer and you take away the good experiences of a lot of non-spoofer players. I do think it plays an essential part keeping this game alive.
Lets face it, niantic makes most of their money from spoofers.
Huge congrats on 40K subs!!
Alrighty, sit down ‘cause I have a story to tell.
Now, I don’t spoof, but I wish I did. As a rural free-to-play player with knee pain, I have had a really hard time getting anywhere in the game. I started in 2019, and for a long time I didn’t have any Gyms, Pokestops, or even spawns, and I had to rely on incense to get Pokemon and gifts to get items(and still do actually). I didn’t even know what Rocket grunts were until they started showing up in balloons. There was one Pokestop a couple kilometers away, and I did ride my bike there occasionally. When I reached level 35, I nominated some waypoints and miraculously got a gym, so I could finally buy those 1 Pokecoin bundles with a remote raid pass in them. But then Niantic took them away. Fair, it was clearly a temporary thing. So then I was getting most of my legendaries from PVP rewards, but then last September, Niantic decided to nerf their rates into the ground, and I could barely even get just one legendary per rotation. That was enough to get me to stop playing the game for a few months.
When I came back in January, I was happy to see that there were a crap ton of spawns all up and down my street, thanks to Niantic monitoring my activity. This motivated me to play the game again. Going to the gym though wasn’t easy anymore due to my car being broken, and the fact that it was winter meant lots of snow, so I couldn’t bike. So, I walked. And a long walk it was. So long in fact that a knee injury that I had gotten a decade ago came back. That’s how I got the knee pain, and I couldn’t even go walking anymore. This didn’t break my spirits though, as now that there were lots of spawns, I could still play the game. I could also still get 1-3 legendary pokemon from PVP rewards if I tried really hard. However, I couldn’t get mega pokemon. I’ve been missing out on them until recently, when I finally mustered up the courage to bike to the gym, as it’s summer now and biking puts less pressure on my knee. The remote raid nerf does make me angry for other people who were doing them a lot, and it also means that I have to go to the gym twice as much to buy a remote raid pass to battle the current mega, but at least it’s possible.
What’s not possible for me is elite raids and shadow raids. There is no community in my area. The only person I have played Pokemon Go with is my sister, but she’s level 32 and doesn’t really play the game much anymore. When Regidrago and Regieleki came about, I found it incredibly unfair that they were basically exclusive to players in cities. I also knew how unfair the game was for me as a rural player. And I also found it really unfair that the game does a terrible job of notifying you of events, and how you’re practically required to read the blog to know when they are and what is available. I’ve missed out on so many regional Pokemon, like Corsola last year because I didn’t know when the event was, and it ended as I was waiting in the queue on Pokegenie to raid for one. This year I missed out on Torkoal, Relicanth, and Tropius because I didn’t know they were hatching from eggs, and wouldn’t have known anyways because the only eggs I get are usually 7km and 12km eggs, and my egg storage is usually full of them when I visit Pokestops. I couldn’t help but feel that the game is ENCOURAGING us to spoof.
I tried to bite the bullet and say “I guess there’s going to be a bunch of things that I miss out on”. I also knew that spoofing wouldn’t solve everything because since I started in 2019, and took breaks along the way, there were going to be a bunch of Pokemon that were only available in the past. And since I don’t have a time travel machine as well, I didn’t think it was worth spoofing. But when elite raids came around again, that was the last straw, because even though this time I was actively playing and paying attention to events and all they had to offer, I wouldn’t be able to raid in them. I thought what I could do is spoof only to get Regidrago and Regieleki, and never do it again. And so after much research and effort, I came to the realization that none of my devices were capable of spoofing anyways. So I said “Oh well, I didn’t want to spoof anyways!”, and was really happy that I couldn’t.
Then the remote raid nerf happened, and shadow raids came to the game. While the remote raid nerf didn’t affect me much (although I still agree that’s it’s incredibly unfair), the in-person shadow raids did. I basically can’t do legendary shadow raids. I also happen to have a shadow Zapdos and two shadow Moltres from Giovanni last year, and I have no idea why I didn’t get a shadow Articuno. So, I kinda want one, but I’m running out of time and have no way to get one. Now more than ever, as a rural player with knee pain and no local community, having been cheated out of several regionals that won’t come back around for a long time, and no hope to do elite raids or legendary shadow raids, and knowing full well the flaws of Niantic and the anger of the community towards them, I so, so wish I could spoof.
If I can manage to get out to a shadow Articuno raid, I am most definitely going to try to call in reinforcements in the form of spoofers. While they may have made the game unfair in the past, they MAKE the game now. They’re the heroes in current times, until Niantic can find a balance between making the game accessible for rural and disabled players and getting people more active. It’s not hard, they just have to do it, but that’s not where their focus is unfortunately. While, yes, I cannot spoof myself, I definitely support it, and I think it should be an in-game mechanic so that Niantic can make the practice fair.
TL;DR: I’m a rural player with knee pain that has been completely screwed over by Niantic and I think remote gameplay should be an in-game mechanic (like it already is).
Hi 👋to be honest,i dont like spoofing buuuuutttt……I live with my family in a little town and for me and my son its impossible to play pokemon go “legally”. In day time when 5 star shadow raid begins its imposible to beat it.The biggest player peak in raids here is 3-5 players including me and my son.We dont have another optoins.😟
Ive been debating doing some spoofing during the week because i live 30-40 mins from any concentrated stops/gyms. I also travel on the weekends which has made the 5-star shadow raids super difficult. Niantic hates me 😢
Bro you can’t say call a spade a spade anymore….that’s a racist thing about black people. Gotta change that. Ty
Wish Ninantic could make the game unloadable if GPS is spoofed. Against TOC. I’ve never spoofed, played every day since 2016. Have some friends who got back into game, then Spoofed got to level 50, have all the regionals. See spoofing in the gyms here. Tough to stay in gym 8 hours. Just wished they could Eliminate spoofing. 7:44
@CountJinsulaOfficial if Niantic would put a pokeride in game with a once a day use to adventure without gps the spoofers would go away and the game still looks rough no texture or ui updates lol no npc’s like the ace trainers or nurse trainer that heals your team or the old guy with crazy Pokémon they could get players back maybe berry farms
Stop calling it GPS spoofing. It’s just spoofing. If I got paid to play this game like you and other YouTubers do and I was able to travel and play then I wouldn’t spoof. Remember that when you’re sitting up on your golden throne in your ivory castle criticizing those who live in rural areas and have lives you have never experienced because you’ve been fortunate enough to have a privileged life. I’m not hating. I enjoy your content but you are viewing the game and life in general through a filtered lense. I have been spoofing for 2 years. Me spoofing has ZERO effect on how you play the game. Spoofers never went away. You act like they did. You have never felt the need to spoof because again, you live a privileged life. Here is my challenge: Stop worrying about those like myself that spoof. We aren’t going to stop. We do more good for the community than harm. Need a pokémon kicked out of a gym? We got you. Looking for a certain shiny? Ask a spoofer.
