So Brandon what you’re saying is remote raiding contributes to the decline of local communities?
Guess who would be among the worst to contribute to that problem then? You. So buddy, get off your high horse. You’ve literally got thousands of XL’s no doubt through thousands of dollars of remote raiding. And here you are, graciously telling us how we should play this game when it’s YOU who has contributed the most to the “decline” of local communities.
I don’t really care about the limit as I don’t raid more than once or twice a week unless it is certain boss I want anyways. Reduced damage is what is going to kill it, I’m almost level 47 with alot of powered up raid counters, but some raids I have joined would have failed if lower/newer players were dealing less damage. If anything I will just pick up spoofing again…but it takes the fun out of it, not really. As far as “people want to play with you”, gonna be a no from me, I am not playing game to make “friends” and prefer to play the game with as little interaction as possible. The thing I think YouTubers fail to recognize is the fact that not all communities are as populated as theirs, and not everyone has people waiting on a whim for a chance to “join a raid” with their favorite content creator. I live in a pretty populated city with alot of gyms downtown and unless it is Comm Day you won’t ever see people out playing (mostly due to a homeless population problem the city continues to ignore).
Even pre pandemic it was next to impossible to raid. Niantic still has yet to roll out campfire worldwide…Also not all players are “nice”, the thing people probably don’t realize is that while a majority of players are, there are also a lot of “creeps” that play this game…
I respect your outlook as a whole, wanting the POGO communities to relive its former glory. But I think you are oversimplifying the issue. Not all raid communities were friendly, there were a lot of toxicity at least in my areas. If you weren’t extremely hardcore like them (go every day, 10+ raids/day, join the caravan) you would be shut out and ostracized. Also this makes it difficult for people who work 9-5 jobs or have families to play. We are not all youtubers who can play all day and go in person to every event. There are days that I get off work and there are no 5 star raids around on the way home and if there are, chances are not many people are out and about in small cities at that hour to do raids at that hour. There are other avenues to promote community that can implemented better but left unaddressed. Comm days, comm day classics, mini-events, local pvp tournaments, local catching contests. People are not just leaving the game because of raids. They also leave because the game became stale and quite frankly unrewarding most of the time. If Niantic wants to get people back or keep playing, they need to give us a reason to and not invest all their resources to stick to an antiquated ideal on how they want the game to be played. Its not making them make more money and its doing more harm than good to the player base. It all comes down to choice, and with all the recent changes it seems like thats being taken away. If you want to raid with people, raid with people that want to go outside too. But that should not force or punish others who don’t want to or can’t.
My 2 Cents.
Local Raids
Limit of daily Orange local passes
Host/Join radius to 1 mile
Remote Raids
Limit Host/Join Paid Remote pass to a 100 mile radius
local/remote ratios pass slots are weighted towards local
Implement Sub Team Creation system
Sub-Team Leader Purchase Medallion
Creates Sub Team specific to Color/Team
Sub-Team auto creates and integrates to Campfire Chat
Base Sub-Team Benefits
Unlimited Paid Team Local Premium passes
Host/Join radius to 10 miles
Unlimited Paid Team Remote Premium passes radius based on Team level
Trade Distance increased for Team mates
Pokecoins can be gifted between members
Sub-Team Leveling System
Members Complete Team tasks to
Team Member Bonuses based on level
ie Stardust reduction between teammates

Sub-Team Bank (Resource sharing)

Sub_Team Join Requirements

Once you form a sub-team you can only interact in positive ways with your color
Defense of your same color gyms, similar to today
However, during raid hour you can Team lock a Gym/Raid location where only your
COLOR can Raid until the SUB_TEAM Pokemon are defeated
Gyms that are sub-team locked can raid that spot without passes throughout the duration
Players must be within a “local” distance from the gym in order to sub team lock.
Note: This only impacts players that are sub_team members
ie Yellow Non Sub Team player can locally attack and potentially defeat all of Red Sub-Teams Pokemon
(doing so would flip red team gym to yellow team gym, allowing that individual to raid unlimited times until defeated)
ie Yellow Sub Team Player can initiate Battle with Red_Sub Team (Entire Teams can battle each other remotely)
Sub_team Winner Locks to the color.
Team mates can place Pokemon in gyms from any distance
Pokemon Health Rot reduces with team level

So we are going to have to grind even crazier for these legendary XL candies 🍭 big rip niantic 🤦🏽♂️
One thing I can say is I post to my group on community days let them know what I am wearing and nobody comes and says hi hey your psyraider….it’s been like this since I started playing even if I can communicate it doesn’t matter ..so I need the remote passes 😩
I have already reduced the amount of time I play Pokemon go on a daily basis due to Niantic’s decisions & I have stopped shiny hunting which was my hobby and favorite thing to do. Now, I only play very casually just to complete special research or today’s tasks. For what Brandon said, yes, it is a delicate topic and this decision cannot make everyone happy. I, myself this time am not against Niantic limiting remote raids as it kills the community but also feel bad for rural players and people with disability.
Right so my problem with Brandon Tan not choosing to fight against this has been spoken a lot but if this hasn’t been said, the people who are new too the game who don’t have campfire who don’t know many people with the left in the dust due to just not being able to get the community pleasure and the chance to remote raid, also pokemon who are locked to certain areas for raids will be hindered too like the UBs.
Another point is the many underaged pokemon go players who can only get around when their parents drive them, we are unable and unwilling to join massive groups of pokemon go strangers due to the obvious stranger danger, I will still do raids with my friends but since we are in school there is no real incentive to play this game without the remote raid passes and with the price increase making them go from 1 pass in 2 days to 1 pass in 3, it doesn’t seem like a lot but it takes a toll on your time that you can spend especially since it isn’t confirmed that you will get 50 a day.
Niantic needs to make a visual update for the gyms, so you can see when people are in the waiting room for raids more easily. It’s tedious to tap every gym to check if people are doing a raid, which makes it harder to find people to do raids. Not this remote raid bs.
Didn’t they say they were gonna change the remote raids when the pandemic was over? Well… the pandemic is over… so who’s really surprised?
Ima quit if they do that and I suggest that a lot of others also quit until the revert it
I’m really not mad about this change at all because i mostly do in person raids because i don’t like spending very much money on the game but i just really hope they increase the amount of daily raid passes a day and maybe make a new system that makes it easier to get more gyms in your area
this is kinda annoying… because i basically used remote passes because of my lack of walking ability
What is the point of having a “Raid Hour” if they are going to limit the number of remote raids you can do?
Imo, they should decrease the price of premium raid passes if they really want to encourage in-person raiding
This is the only way I can raid is thro these passes… I can’t believe this crap. Don’t they want my damn money?!?!
I honestly do not play this game for human interactions lol I don’t want to have to see other people, especially children.. I’m an adult and don’t wanna look weird at parks alone with kids!
niantic just want us to spoof and spend money on premium passes
Isn’t another issue that you only get one in-person raid pass a day, from spinning a pokestop at a gym? Don’t they need to change this so you can get unlimited raid passes IRL?
For a day to day player that work from 8 to 9 I don’t have the time to get out and find the raid because I live for from the city. Whay naiantic is getting on me and all the spofers can play the game on tic tok and nobady dose something. Not every body have aredy have 10 lv 50 100% rayquaza and remote raid is the only whay that I will hope ever get à Pokémon L50.
