With Carter is not what he did do. It was what he didn’t do. He had two opportunities to impress teams and he showed poorly. Why? Because he came in out of shape. With all that was on the line that is the best he could muster for the NFL teams? Sorry, not a worker, not what the Lions are after, not what I want to risk at #6. Yet, he has shown he can blow up the o-line when he plays.
The only counterargument I would propose to Chris’s logic on Jalen Carter’s situation and DC, BH, and companies’ stance on football character would be John Dorsey. It doesn’t take long to spot character concerning players with talent off the charts, drafted by Dorsey. Granted, Holmes is GM not Dorsey, but a guy who drafted Kareem Hunt, and Tyreek Hill. Clearly has a history of overlooking issues outside of football if the talent level is high enough. Just food for thought!
This is one thing that ya’ll are doing that no one else I’ve seen do and I really think it should be more of a thing. Scott and Russell bring the on field x’s and o’s analysis and Chris brings the off the field psychology of the player. I think having both perspectives come into play on a mock is really really cool and unique.
I just can’t draft a QB in round 1. The window for a super bowl, as foreign as that sounds, has opened for the next 3 years & our 1st rounders need to be immediate impact players. Goff is under contract for 2 yrs, can F-tag him for the 3rd, if not extended. Over the next 3 yrs, Holmes can use his keen eye for talent & draft one QB somewhere in rounds 2-7, to eventually take the wheel.
The podcast took a weird turn when the host strong-armed the guests into taking Witherspoon at #6 just because he personably likes him.
Even weirder after the opening lecture to listeners about not getting upset about the results of the mock.
But all good. Entertaining overall.
