especially interesting for me is politics-strategic overview before battle
Good work as always! HistoryVerse seems to help put out great work!
I’m unsure of why any officer would let individual units hold hills back then when an entire force was marching in. Let them take the hill dead men dont fight battles. Just holding one of the closer hills as they do after they lost a few small units seemed like the clear decision but I guess that’s hind sight
This is what happens when you commit your army piecemeal and without proper coordination or communication between its various half’s. Allowing oneself to be defeated in detail one after the other and nearly ending the thirty years war at a stroke, in victory for the Hapsbergs if it weren’t for France entering the war and propping up Sweden and its allies in the immediate aftermath of this colossal defeat.

The Battle of Nordlingen in 1634 serves as a thought-provoking meditation on the unpredictability of human fate. Here, the Swedish coalition, despite its might, met a crushing defeat while unlikely victors emerged. The aftermath, however, brings about an even greater understanding: that war is rarely a true victory for anyone and often only produces more chaos and suffering. It’s as if our own actions – inflamed by our desires for power (megalomania) – shape a narrative far more intricate than any natural force could create. This battle serves as an exemplification of the complexities of human conflict: a search for peace that paradoxically leads to more turmoil.
Historyverse is awesome, glad u guys collabed
it´s spelled “nerdlingen” 😉
(thank me later)
His name is Gustav Adolf 🤦♂️ not gustavus adlofus. Omg

0:52 – the map is very bad. Saxony is much too big towards east. Lower Silesia as these are is called was not in Saxony, it was of Kingdom of Bohemia. Saxony didn’t have border with Poland.
Hey could anyone tell the name of the background music around 13:01
