i disagree on comparing pearl to haven or ascent and i compare B site most to icebox and A site most to either haven or ascent. to explain why i feel this way, i first want to talk about some of the professional team comps. i’ve analyzed multiple pro games on pearl and found that agents that are good on icebox (fade, kayo, jett, chamber and most importantly viper) are played a ton on this map. now i’m going to explain my ideas about the site: i think, personally, B site is the easiest to take in the entire game. the entire site is just one long hallway and there is only 3 spots for a defender to play. a chamber will most likely be in halls with an op or long range weapon, so they can be a bit of a trouble, but once you push them off you don’t have to worry about much. the cubby and screens are only good for one free kill and these spots are only good if you’re playing agents like chamber or yoru who can get away quickly. a SINGLE viper wall can completely shut off every other defender. that’s why 5 manning B is a completely viable strategy, even in pro play where it is used a lot. to give you evidence for this i’d like to cite GENG vs V1 round 2. admittedly, i don’t think that cherry picking one round out of 3 games is reasonable for an argument, so i’m going to talk about a pearl game where i only watched 2 rounds of before turning off and going on with my day. geng, again using a comp very similar to icebox, decide to 5 man rush B. they use their utility to clear out the three common angles and rush in. long story short they get the freest plant of their life and if i remember correctly they’re able to hold the spike so well in post plant that even though v1 get more kills they can’t defuse and the round goes to geng. another thing i’d like to touch on is how useless B mid is. to get to B, you have to:
– walk through the smallest choke point in the game
– if you want to get to ct or B site, it doesn’t matter! both choke points are extremely small
– once you get to B site you get pinched unless your team has fully cleared site (good luck with that lmao)
and that’s opposed to:
– take the site for free with a viper wall
hopefully i’ve made my point a little clear. i have a bad habit of talking too much and reiterating the same points so i’m sorry if this was redundant. have a nice day 🙂

FR pearl is on attacker favor especially b site like wtf if u start playing bad on defender site then on attacker u will have a chance to comeback but the opposite is truly impossible

I thought i would enjoy this map before it got into comp but after playing on it a few times i can say i fucking hate it. And also i see a lot of people say it’s attacker sided but I definitely don’t feel like it is.

B site is Icebox. A site is haven. If ur comp is a better haven comp then play for A. If better for icebox then play for B.
