I remember in beta (or right after I forget when I started) I played cypher and he was really good, his cage also slowed and no one knew what to expect so you could just have a trip wire and a cage at A main on any map and people would walk into it, get slowed, walk into the trip, then y could seen them and just kill them. I wasn’t even good at tac shooters then and I was doing well
imo – Cypher’s cages should last longer and have a line on screen (and on the minimap) that shows its arc and landing point – suddenly his cages are more consistent for controlling space.
it does sort of dumb down the agent a bit maybe
Thank you!! I’ve been arguing for Cypher’s viability for a long time with my friends, so this feels extremely validating.
Witch character do you think is the worst?
TLDR:
Cypher isn’t bad
YOU are bad
thank you – fellow cypher main
5:19 I remember someone saying that when enemy kay/o has an ult, cypher should play in the opposite site while a teammate holds the set up, that way cypher can still use his util
I’ve always felt that Cypher’s ult is pretty situational. There’s moments where a Cypher ult gives me the perfect info to go for kills, other times it doesn’t seem to do much and I just can’t find the right time to use it.
Ultimate aside, Cypher’s info and site anchoring is really freaking good if you know what you’re doing
this was a fire intro into a game analysis. Like really good clickbait that isn’t misleading and segways really into the analysis. Sometimes I’ll skip vids cuz they don’t get me hooked as much but this was real well done. Good stuff tmv.
reddit is leaking to this comment section…

Saying Cypher is bad sounds like a “you” problem
Here’s a thought though- No doubt Mel played Cypher extremely well, but would she not have been as effective if not more so on Chamber? I know that in a sense it’s pointless debating because we’ll never know, but there’s definitely a reason most pros pick chamber over cypher still. Cypher is kinda the Yoru of sentinels. He’s a little bit gimmicky, and requires you to be able to consistently outthink/outplay your opponents. At first this can be effective, but over time the value of such plays depreciates, especially within the same game. Even here, arguably two of Mels most impactful round were the first two. What chamber offers over Cypher is consistency. Not tryna hate, but even after watching, yes I see the value brought to the game as Cypher, no I’m not convinced she wouldn’t have been more impactful on Chamber.
I’m cyfer main now
Just a few thoughts on your take, basically cypher gives you a ton of info but very little stopping power, so people have to understand when to play retake and how to hold off some angles that can help them in a retake, the problem cypher has is that he is also like astra but more helpless cause his only ability that refreshes is a cam that takes to long to use again especially in a pro game for astra you can still dismiss stars and be efficient even solo
For cypher people don’t advantage of the small window he gives for counteracting because they are busy camping, Ive had many instances where people just dont shoot someone when they are caught in a trap. Basically he needs team play to be efficient.
And about his ult its more useful at the beginning of a round or midway when you have pressed past their initial pushing area to know where they plan to hit, and I honestly would just like them to remove the blink it gives after 2 secs as its hellla confusing.
Hi
“I’m Sick of the valorant Subreddit” because of one comment. yikes.
to be fair mel is built different, kinda unfair to the enemy team
