the analogy of comparing Valorant Franchising to League about sending the same two league teams is wrong when TL and TSM aren’t even at Worlds…
6:59 LCS is dying but LEC got soo much better since franchising.
I feel like franchising loses competition. I get that orgs can get any player but we can lose players that could make an upset bring in new faces with actual talent without having to try and force themselves into an org that made the cut. That is why we are seeing a change in csgos pro scene with new teams getting in, because they have an open qualifier
No
It depends on how well they manage Tier 2… If we have stuff like promotion and Relegation (in the future coz Riot has denied it for now) proper management of the tier 2 scene and allowing academy teams from tier 1 teams to compete as well in tier 2 along with other random teams then It would basically emulate the football scene of Europe which has those dream run possibilities as well and also ensures that the best of the best arent exploited that much. Like even in League i really liked how Griffin in LCK came from tier 2 and straight away started banging heads with the greatest… unfortunately half of the LoL leagues don’t have promotion relegation. I hope Valo adds it to all the leagues which will give good players in tier 2 a reason to stick together as well are the good teams at the bottom of the table to try harder to avoid getting into tier 2.
Also mid season they could organise tourneys that have tier 2 and tier 1 teams both participate which will do the job of revealing the gems in the tier 2
Valarante saves NA CS once again
Franchising is never good. It only makes mediocre teams keep their spots because they have the money to do it.
My question is is there relegation on franchise league? Like if, lets say can the champion of the ascenscion league go up against franchise player or not? If not then this is just clownchising there will be no skill just popularity contest don’t call it a competition at that point.
It’s funny that I always disagree 100% with Dimitri, he seems to hate everything Riot does, that even fans, for example, from Valve/Dota/CS admire the support Riot gives to the community/teams/players, and what exactly makes having so many fans and always the biggest of e-sports.
And Franchise is not killing the LCS, but the lack of competitiveness and talent in the Americas, because if you look at all other regions they are getting better and better since they changed to franchise, LCK, LEC, LPL, VCS, etc etc.
Basically Dimitri is right. Franchising is shit.
We need a TheScoreEsport podcast
When does TSM play?
I guess this just shows that Riot more than anything cares about a sustainable future for their game and its comp scene. Hopefully in the future more of our favorite teams can enter franchising and it might not end up as closed off as it feels now.
it’s like 20% good, 80% bad.
technically, CS does have a “franchising” thing. Let alone the fact that CS is ONLY EMEA teams excluding Liquid and maybe EG? Depends with them as an ORG rn lol. Thats it. NA completely died for CS. entirely. Asia completely died for CS. it’s literally just competition of France(VIT), NaVi, or like idk, sometimes G2. depends if they change roster again Lmfao.
