Best part of this is gonna be team-themed skinlines like OW. Riot should be able to make that happen after this “partnership program” is started.
They banned tbagging the games dead in a year
Ppl talking about franchising killing Valorant yet League of Legends still goes strong. It’s not franchising itself that kills scenes it’s the way it’s run.
Edit: Riot still blows with a lot of their lackadaisical response to the communities it houses at large (LoL, Valorant, TFT, etc.) but they understand business. It’s been almost 4 or 5 years since LoL franchising started and it still rakes in a ton of fans. Ppl speaking on CoD League and OWL fail to remember that the game didn’t come first for the leagues it was solely monetary value. Riot for better or for worse is constantly tweaking their games and are active participants in keeping the game alive. Blizzard and Activision does not have that.
This model is going to kill the tier 2 scenes.
Atleast make it 15 teams and the teams go to the bracket by getting the most wins
Valorant will die…
CSGO is the definition of FPS, there’s no double. As a hardcore fps player, Valo just feel wrong, it’s hard to say why.
Liz isn’t from Canada?
I think this is a huge mistake. Riot came out of the gate firing, supporting the scene, listening to the community, and delivering content. This last year has kinda felt like the opposite. They haven’t delivered on the promises they made themselves whichever season that was where there wasn’t a new agent or map. The meta has grown stale and they always cite not wanting to change the meta to interfere with the competitive scene but there’s always something going on so they never make sweeping changes. Chamber has been broken for over half a year, the other sentinels haven’t gotten significant buffs at all this year, the yoru buff took more than half a year. It just feels like they’re Overwatching it and getting too comfortable where they’re at. More work needs to be put in on their half.
hopefully it will work like esl pro league where the partnered teams are guranteed spots and non partnered teams can still qualify to it
counter strike sits on a throne of skulls of it challengers for a reason.
game was “dead” when OW released
game was “dead” when pubg released
game was “dead” when fortnite released
game was “dead” when valorant released
Valve’s hands off approach is by far the best way to foster an actual scene.
Valorant has viewers, Counter Strike has fans
Just make a qualifier? wtf it’s not that hard – As well just make a players association. It’s better if it’s not done by Riot itself. Without a Pro-Szene Valorant E-Sport dies, so the teams should use this as a leaverage.
dogshitcompanydogshitgame what you expect
Idk if in the long run franchising is good or bad, but it seems pretty clear that it’s too early. Trying to make a decision on who becomes a partner based on two years of results, at a time when the scene is very young and unstable (no org has won more than one international event yet), seems like a fools errand.
Valorant’s future is banning players for teabaging lol
Riot shot themselves in the foot for making this ‘partnership program’ lmao.
They will give info on T2 once the teams are picked. Firstly they don’t even know how many teams there are going to be yet.
If they franchise the way ow did then Franchising will not help valorant at all all teams need to be able to compete on the highest level of their good enough they shouldn’t just say ok we like what you do so you get to be there at all times sports for the fans is all about being there for the team that you love watch Europe with football the fans here go insane for their clubs they have really passion look at csgo csgo to me means passion not for the game I don’t like playing it that much nowadays but everytime my favorite team plays I tune in to watch no matter if we are top 30 or if we are the best I will always watch cause I have passion for them you need a team to root for and franchising will just create fake relationships between the fans and the teams
8 teams in a 5v5 competitive shooter is way too small of a pool especially with the game only 2 years out. Say sentinels get off to a crazy start 5-0 it would be nearly impossible for the 8th seed to climb their way up against a group of the top 8. Where 4 are elite squads and the rest have pieces of a team. With 16 you get much more varied matches and upsets. The talent and game are too young and the knowledge isn’t there for newer players to try out let alone compete. Seems like a good way to avoid toxic brand ambassadors though…smite.
Evo stream? YEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS, strive is gonna be insane this year.
