one shot hs and as the movement in Valorant isn’t as complicated as CS, u don’t really need to counterstrafe and can land pretty accurate shot just after letting go of movement key. this with one shot kill at any range make vandal a better rifle irrespective of phantom having better first shot accuracy, higher mag size and suppressor and chamber meta generally favors vandal over phantom

The reset time on the phantom is a week and the reset on the vandal is 1 frame, so you can abuse the move, shoot, reset bs that every gunfight becomes.

The vandal also just gets random headshots when you’re aiming at someone’s elbow, so there’s that.

I personally think that if you are playing reyna and you have your ultimate or playing brimsrone with stimbeacon and smokes, phantom is much better due to the fire rate

On paper if you just look at the stats and nothing more, phantom is better. But in reality, there is no answer to this question. Riot did a really clean job at balancing the two rifles and giving them their own uses and playstyles, but in the end i would recommend using the rifle you are feeling comfortable with using. Focus on one of them and master it and dont switch to the other one. Ive been playing vandal in my early days and when i reconsidered and gave phantom a chance, i did really bad on it.

I wonder if pros will evolve in the future to prefer the Guardian over the Phantom/Vandal. It has the same one tap ability as the Vandal but is overall more accurate (first shot accuracy) and is cheaper. Obviously the disadvantage is not being able to spray but theoretically an aimbot would be better with a Guardian than a Vandal, so as pros approach the theoretical limits of human performance there should be a point where the Guardian starts to outperform either Rifle.

Fuck double controller meta, tbf cs have 5 smoker but its not cs because valo have sentinel, yes its trash in pro but in pub its so hard to entry, split with just kj and brim is so good to hold site its super annoying to entry, my jet can dash but the rest of the team get cut off by the molly, imagine you put astra on top of that, pull+molly and everyone die

I think the spray control is subjective, because I and some other people I know find the vandal easier to control than the phantom because of the slower firerate. Also in tact shooters first bullet accuracy and precision is rewarded above all else so why use a gun that from certain ranges isn’t a one shot kill. Especially now that the maps have gotten larger with some of the newer maps like breeze and pearl having long sightlines in certain places it makes sense the vandal is starting to be favored more. It takes some of the rng out of a gunfight where u get a dink but they get one back instantly with the vandal killing you.

Split was a good map for the phantom but it’s gone so that could be a reason, just the map pool right now in general

Pros have been getting so good that not being able to 1 shot the head can make them lose a gunfight. Similar to CSGO if people can get an AK they get it due to the 1 shot even though it has a larger spray.
