I kind of wished they got rid of bind
Should have been Bind.
they will never remove breeze because it will show that they made mistake. but i think they should remove bind instead. its a boring map with no different in term of attacking and retaking. almost no different play route, teleport that is uhhh do people really use it? beside throwing random util and running from the spike explosion? with a TP sound that can be heard across the map. its gimmicky with no real gimmick

I’m actually not playing ranked much lately and I don’t play professionally (perhaps goes without saying), but if I were doing either: I would not miss Split.
In ranked play (at least at the middling ranks I’ve frequented), there is a frustrating lack of attention from players to the value of mid. It’s probably the single most valuable mid area in any Valorant map, and when the general player base is playing the map “wrong” I can see Riot being like “let’s see if we can rework this map to make it more interesting for more people”.
And then on the pro side, that mid value probably makes the map feel one-dimensional. So from a competitive or spectator point of view, the map comes up short in a different way than for “popular” play.
So I can see it being a lose-lose map compared to everything else, especially since Riot giving up on Breeze so (relatively) soon just feels unlikely when they’ve both debuted and reworked the map so recently.
If nothing else: if nobody ever needs to watch all of their attacker teammates stand around and do nothing in Split B garage ever again (or for a long time)… I’m calling that a win.
yes. This map has no chokepoints that arent way too small and the attack side is the same thing every time. Have a lurk up A main and split B. Its so boring to watch even though it seems balanced just by looking at stats. It is a super old map that has no variety besides the neon pick Optic did. It is also similar to the new map as it has a close corner mid, but each site doesnt have multiple angles at different elevations to look at. Unlike icebox, sova isnt as useful making clearing each angle harder without a drone, and each defensive character’s abilities cover the whole chokepoint on each entrance.
My highest victory ratio is in breeze, and good lord how I hate it
I just lose on split 13-2 and still had fun compare to bind when i was winning. That’s speak alot
Bind was the correct choice. It was right there. No mid, shitty choke points, garbage camp fest of a gimmick.
Similarly to what others have said in the comments, I do agree that Breeze is objectively worse than Split, My reason is that they wanted to target the older maps (Split, Haven, Bind, Ascent) instead of the newer ones just because of the fact that people can try to learn the newer maps and find new metas on that map. They might also be doing this because most people hate this map, and Riot is trying to get us to like the map in some way, but what I think what will happen is that the map pool will rotate out every VCT series (once per year).
I definitely agree on what Riot Devs’ decision on removing split. Split for me is the worse map there is, I have 1/10 win rate on this map my (rank is Immo 1) I think it’s because of the elevated/uneven angles which is very frustrating. Also, Raze is one of the favored agent in this map.
Idk why they didn’t remove breeze or icebox it’s not even that interesting to see pros play on breeze. Icebox games are interesting but is just an annoying map in ranked and breeze is one of the worst maps for ranked . Some people dislike fracture but I can probably say majority hate breeze the most unless you’re an op crutching chamber
im bad on ascent too and it’s so many ppl’s least fave map
Even if we really wanted to remove breeze, I think riot wouldn’t simply because it’s the second newest map at the time, fracture being the newest. Out of the OG beta map pool, is pretty hard to choose since all of them are very cool and have a diverse agent pick

I think play patterns are being valued more than agent diversity. Making breeze more diverse just isn’t that easy outside of agent changes because if significant map changes were made to make raze or sage more competitively viable(agents good in smaller spaces) on the map it could ruin the design goal of the map all together. Changes that would be good to do this would be extensive, extending the duration on yoru tp could allow players to use it as a rotate tool without it expiring, making Reyna flash range larger could increase her viability, evening out cypher and chambers viability which might just happen on its own due to chambers god awful flank watch. and if it doesn’t ruin the map integrity some mid changes could help too. But if these changes were implemented breezes cast of characters could increase to include:viper,sova,kayo, skye, Jett, Reyna, yoru,neon(?),chamber and cypher. Not to mention if phoenix becomes viable. If any opinions could be offered on my take it would be appreciated but I feel like to increase the diversity of characters it needs to be done within characters themselves, especially the duelist role.the agent diversity could also simply be a product of the initiator meta as soo many double or even triple initiator comps are being played, limiting outside agent diversity. This same phenomenon could happen to a map like split of sentinels as a class became much stronger. Props to anyone who read this essay, I’ll probably change my opinion by next week 😂
absolutely should have removed breeze, it genuinely makes me lose ALL motivation to climb when i get breeze in comp 4 fucking times in a row
