I’m definitely disappointed for Split to go and would have rather Breeze be the one to go. At the moment it feels like Breeze is very stagnant in the way that it’s being played both in ranked & comp/pro play which contributes to it being virtually perma-banned in comp/pro play. It’s also not a surprise to see it played a lot in APAC & KR as the play style of the greater APAC region (KR, JP, SEA, SA & OCE) can be seen as being quite chaotic despite being primarily a team based style.
fuck split
Okay, seems everyone agrees that Breeze should be removed. I don’t think so. Split was impossible to B split and very difficult to A split on, making it a 1-choke run it down map, like Pearl (My 20 PBE games i’ve played had only ~5-6 site split rounds and about half of them worked). Breeze’s mid doesn’t have much attention payed to it, making it easy to theorycraft and come up with general strategies to attack or defend the map. As a viper main, I HATED split, and now Bind after realizing its flaws. They’re both incredibly 1d and Breeze offers a new perspective on the game with 3 ways to split the sites (Halls, Cave, Doors, and Main, Tunnel, and CT, CT requires a Neon though). You could never on Split.
The thing is that you’re using pro players as a reference for your stats, which doesn’t make for even 1% of the total player base.
Pearl is just a new split with a better mid. Look at both the minimap and you see it. Just no one would go A heaven to spawn then B and vice versa
Split is just weird compared to other maps. Its imo the worst designed map
Really good analysis ! The fact that it has only 9 average agents played on it compare to the other maps and it’s in the bottom pick for several league really shows something. There’s a real problem with Breeze (and it has nothing to do with my 33% winrate on this map Idontknowwhattodopleashelpme), the all community seems to agree on this point. The only viable point that they remove Split of the roatation for me is that Split might be a little oppressive because it has only “3 ways” you can go, compare to the other map where there’s a ton of way the defense team has to watch… That’s the only reason Split might need a little rework imo but I never think about it before they say they remove it….
I just dont understand why they need to remove it from unrated as well. Atleast let us enjoy the map in a non competitive setting instead of making it limited to the mini games
5:05 these devs are jokes in every meaning of that word.
L. Split worst map
Should’ve been Bind.
i’m **so** happy split is gone. i hate that map with a burning passion
i would delete split twice
Split is an interesting map, and gave us some of the most hype games at the last international. The wrong choice imo
I saw in valorant tracker I have a less than 22% winrate in Split, while having my highest Average combat score Split. I play better in split than in other maps but I still lose… what?
Yup, split gotta go, entry in breeze is better and more dynamic than split, one wall and few smoke and it is almost impossible to enter site.
nah my man ur going for breeze and forgetting that bind still exists nah nah
There is one thing you don’t take in consideration in your analysis. Split is a map that brings nothing unique to the table. maps like Breeze, Icebox or Fracture, whilst generally loved much less by the player base, offer something different in their own way (be it the complexity of their mid connectors, the vastness of their bomb sites, etc) which brings different approaches and strats in regards to how a pro team prepares for a map pool (with all of their strengths or weaknesses). I feel like Split and Ascent don’t really have that uniqueness, since they are both very straight forward classic maps, with not much to them.
Are they enjoyable to play? sure. But what do they bring to the table in the map pool that another map doesn’t bring already?
If it had been my choice, I clearly wouldn’t have picked Split, but I can see a logic that brings to this conclusion. that, or Ascent. but other maps shouldn’t leave (even if I hate some of them)
i personally am happy it’s being taken out as it’s my most hated map and i always underperform on it, i think in ranked it’s generally the most hated map because of the one sidedness of it, but in pro play it’s fun to watch. breeze is alright/good in ranked and doesn’t feel as one sided but it is much more boring to watch in pro play. it’s hard to find a balance between catering to the players and the pros, maybe keep pro map pool for map pick and ban system at 7 and keep ALL maps in the ranked queue?
