Lol, only His Royal High Woodleyness can bring the fun back to the heartbreaking carnage that is ARK. I am sooo tempted to install it again.
Has he increased his gather rates yet?
Gotta turn harvesting off on Olive so she’ll stop eating all your kills.
As for transportation, if you get an Argentavis (big bird) you can move some bigger creatures, but for things like the carno you basically have to just ride it or have it follow you….. Or get the super late game monster bird to pick it up, but I wouldn’t worry about that.
Cant wait for him to find out those glowing dinos are called Alphas and cant be tamed. 😆
Wears otter like scarf. Who keeps eating my fish 🤣
the otter isn’t eating your kills she’s harvesting the meat from them look in her inventory
The way he calls every dino the wrong name like the saber that was actually a chalico and bronto that was a diplo lol made me laugh…josh Thankyou
I used a boat to get my land animals around. It has it’s limits of course but in early game it works well.
I can’t sleep without a JaWoodle 7 days video. Now I’ll be up all night
GLOWING DINOS ARE ALPHAS…VERY HARD TO KILL
THAT WHALE IS A KILLER AND A BOAT EATER
You either get an Argentavis (eagle) dino to carry alot of the medium to small dinos or if you have hit lvl 51 you can unlock a cryopod and craft it in the loot drops or at any of the oblisk. It will allow you to pickup your dino and carry them in your inventory. The cryopod has a cooldown which you can disable in the main menu settings if you want to just pickup and deploy anytime you want, highly recommend it. Also, the S+ mod allows you to access all your inventory & dino Inventory. (i.e. if u want to craft 10 axes you go to crafting section and choose the item you want then type 10 up top where the number 1 is and click on the cloud+down arrow looking icon and it will pull the resource from nearby storages. You can also use it to store similar items in different storages. Might want to make a spyglass special when you are flying to spot your dinos.
You’ve had me in hysterics instead of sleeping 😂 pretty sure your tiger was the stone flinging cow (which I had a little tribe of) and I’m in agreement with the other commenters… definitely get the argi; they’re a game-changer 😊
Place a useless item in the 0 tab so if u get mugged you don’t lose my thing of value
Yo whats up Josh a hint, you can keep a stack of majoberries in the last slot of your hot bar. if you get pickpocketed it will tame them instead of them taking your gubbins
Easiest way to move dinos is with cryopods once you can make them (have to do at terminals or in loot drops) you can use a raft, but then Leeds might break your raft (the big whale thing you saw when you were at herbivore isle; that one was an Alpha due to the red glow). The raptor you were after had the ‘pack leader’ buff (you can’t tame actual Alphas) and they were eaten by the Mantas, they would have died anyways since the first one knocked out in water and would have drown. Your Carno was killed by a Therizinosarus (aka Tickle Chicken) but it was due to the diplodocus (they are “playfull” and like to nudge players/tamed dinos) he pushed your Carno over to the Tickle Chicken who are aggressive territorial. And that was a Chalicotherium that destroyed that raptor pack, they are tamed passively by giving them beer.
Vertical tail = fish, horizontal tail = whale/dolphin. That big fucker ain’t a whale, it’s a Leedsichthys (apparently the meat is on par with prime meat).
You should land your flyer (press space bar when near the ground) before you jump off of them. This will keep them from flying off to somewhere else to land that could get them in trouble. You can also force feed carnivores meat and it will heal them. Hover over a stack of meat in their inventory press the “e” key and that will do the force feeding.
The glowing creatures are called “Alpha” creatures, they come in raptor, carno, and rex flavors on the land and 4 underwater variants (giant squid “tuesotusis”, mosasaur, whale creature that will attack rafts “leedsichthys”, and megaladon) for when you get to that point (on the island map but there are more variants on other maps). Alpha variants are larger than the regular creatures and also *CAN NOT* be tamed.
There is a slightly different glow on pack leader creatures. These are creatures that are the same size as the regular types but they travel in packs and the pack leader has the highest level of the group. “Dinos” in this category are mainly: hyaenodons (dog like creatures that can be pet), Allosauruses, and raptors.
Eggs in the wild are unfertilized eggs and will not hatch anything from them (exceptions on other maps like wyverns). To get a fertilized egg you need to have a mating pair of dinos and have them breed an egg. Unfertilized eggs are great for making kibble with the right recipe.
I would recommend breaking down a metal node with the pick axe and get as much metal a s your pteranadon can carry back to base and start smelting it. I would also recommend that you look into crafting metal tools and more importantly a “longneck rifle”. At level 62 you can unlock tranq darts which do a lot more torpor and a lot less damage to creatures so you are less likely to kill them when trying to tame them. You should also find a bit of crystal and make a spyglass. This will allow you to see creature names and levels from a distance.
I’ll again leave this link here: https://ark.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_carryable_creatures
This is to the wiki list of creatures that can carry other creatures. It also has at the top of the page what can trap creatures, what creatures can damage what structures, and just the list of creatures quick navigation.
Also *most* shoulder pets you want to put the level up points into health (this can help keep them alive if something bad happens), the otter and the Ferox (ferox is Gen 1 and 2 DLC) you should put points into the melee stat. Melee for these two creatures are what dictate their hypo and hyper thermal bonuses. The otter (my personal favorite shoulder creature for this reason) will help keep you warm or cool so you don’t have to change outfits just because you are traveling in different biomes or across the map. The otter has another benefit towards end game things that I will leave in a comment on this comment to not spoil things.
The “sabertooths” that you were talking about near the middle that were messing up everything around it. Yeah, nah, those are actually Chalicotherium (tamed with beer) and are affectionately referred to as poop cows. They are herbivores with a slightly less agro range than the tickle chickens. They do throw poop at you that will stun you and make you move slower and puts a brown ring around your screen. There are actual saber toothed cats in this game and part of why I am making a distinction.
The pegomastax are the Aladdin stealy things that you encountered before. Your carno also didn’t pick a fight with a bronto, brontos are bigger and will actually do damage, that was a Diplodocus and those creatures only push you around. The tickle chicken on the other hand is a herbivore with a bad attitude, and will try to f-up any tamed creature or human that it comes across.
Another thing: moving around dinos efficiently is done using cryo pods that can be recharged in a cryo fridge. I personally tend to carry like 4-6 empty ones on me most of the time and sometimes one or two others that have tames for when I need to go resource gathering or whatever. This was mentioned earlier by saltyshellback.
Or at level 64 you can unlock the saddle for an Argentavis (giant vulture looking ride-able creature). This can carry all of your harvesting dinos (unless you get a mammoth) plus it gets weight reduction on many resources (main ones are crystal, metal, metal ingots, scrap metal ingots and stone at 50% weight reduction on all these materials). And the Argy’s saddle can be used like a smithy.
Its boat time Josh 🙂
Disaster after disaster but truly m8 you were so close to some big wins. Keep pushing, cheers
