Awesome build Spanj, but like others have suggested a hatch door facing downward towards those skinny supporting pillars.
Just in case the zombies had enough of your shenanigans & decided to go crazy on those pillars.
As may have been said, you need some way for you to defend your weak points, ie. your support pillars, either hatches or bars above/around the pillar tops, or within view of the pillar bottoms, maybe strap some extra elec wires around them and/or spikes. Plus a hatch above the dart traps for you to fire out of. Having multiple vantage points for firing from!
Actually JaWoodle found that slanted block at the gap caused exactly that (them running through and falling with his underground base at base rock. If you put just the classic block at the edge, they instead stood over his position and ate through the ground. If he put that slanted block at the edge, they perceived it as a ramp down to progress over, and ran over it, falling in to the pit. You may need to have an actual one block space for them to jump over :O
Digup a hole ware the shock gun
And put a halfblock in sted
Hi spanj nice it’s going to work…. 👍
Spanj, unlock the first tier of coilguns (i think it was lvl50 limited) that will add some good firepower for the horde.
Also did you just complain there was not enough block shapes? This isn’t Empyrion!
The not jumping over was a bug. I’ve seen this before in Df. Zombies can jump one block. Two choices with the vault door, you can attach a motion sensor, so the door opens, allows the guns to shoot, and closes when zombies aren’t near the guns. Or place a land claim should enable you to pick the door back up.
I like the horde base, blood, sweat, tears, and blue backpacks built that; I hope it shreds lots of zombies. Adding to what I said, you could put a motion sensor on the vault door, tag it for zombies, and then add a second motion sensor for the shotgun turrets and target zombies, but add a delay for the door to open. That way, whenever zombies walk by, the door opens, and the guns fire, and you could wire a switch to the motion sensors if you didn’t have the ammo for the entire blood moon. My only fear is the blade traps will get damaged too early into the blood moon to be effective.
I think you are dying more because your wellness is on the low side. I screwed up my last playthrough, so I started over. I started as a farmer and made cooking a priority early on. My current health at level 18 is 151. I recommend making a lot of orange juice, upping wellness perk, and trying to get your health over 200.
Cool base. Really like the surprise shotgun turrets. Nice to have some additional dps when things jump off. Curious though, you stated this being forever base…think the base can handle the big monsters? Tentacle guys, behemoths, etc. Also, are you going to be doing anything with the pit; ie more surprise turrets, spikes, downward dart traps?
You could put a iron door opposite side and put your bedroll in a locked room .
I’m knackered just thinking about that build, I’d also thought the wedges had been patched out (but am obviously wrong).
Only concern would be the amount of block damage shotguns do to your path, but it will be fun to find out either way 🙂
When you said “the zombies don’t know how to fly” I said to myself “that is probably a flag for the next horde to have Succubus to start appearing” . I like the base in general but I would not have put steel plates in front of the electric post, but rather I would have installed hatches or doors in case you need to rewire them after a horde night
Cant wait to see this base in action.
As for the building episodes like this, i do enjoy them. Would like it even more to see a timelapse or realtime building a bit more.
I really am looking forward to see how it goes. Great build and a lot of work to get it built, the only thing you will have to really worry about is zombie stupidity
WOW….That’s a cool Horde Base!! I can’t wait until Horde night to see how it holds up!! Get that Iron smelted, your goin to need lots to upgrade that against demos!! ❤️❤️❤️💯👍😁
I forget the name of the block but there is a semicircular rounded window block (looks a lot like the heavy sathium windows in Empyrion) that will pass bullets, darts, etc. but will block cop vomit… Might be useful for your horde base instead of the security grates.
Also, I’m concerned about how the dart traps and shotgun turrets are set up. There’s a lip that the zombies could jump over to and stand on and they might see that as a path to you, especially with the vault door open or if the dart traps get blown up.
You should cut the fighty part of your base off from the other wings for accessing the dart traps and electricity traps using a two block width gap bridged with on-face trapdoors. If you don’t, the zombies will see that one wide gap to your dart traps or through the vault door as a viable path (especially when it’s open) and may beat on it or even jump over and run to you. But if you use the trap doors, as long as they are open, the zombies will not perceive that as a path. Then you can just swing them up to cross the bridge if you need to get over to the dart traps or wire traps.
Why not add a blade trap below the gap, hanging just below the sloped blocks to chew up the zombies that fall?
Oops just saw you have done that.
Gotta give ya props, ya got stones building a horde base in the wasteland. I was sceptical of your 1st horde base tho, so I’m gonna keep my trap shut on this one. I now have faith 😂
