The padlocks should be used for chests, wardrobes, woodshed, ect but be limited to one per. The old locks should be used for cars and doors. The bedroll takes up the quiver spot but in a bag takes a 4×4 spot but quiver takes 8×16. No reason to carry on your back really.
really sad… thank you for bringing it up….. we need to talk more about this.. but what can we do more to get our voices heard?
I can see how they are trying to make this the most realistic survival simulation they can. The problem is that too realistic is not fun for a lot of players.
You say they made the bases basically unraidable. Would it not be a good thing to have a nearly unraidable base if you need to rest for an hour or two to get stamina back?
I know it is an unpopular opinion, but I feel that if someone puts in the time and effort to fortify their base, it should be unraidable, otherwise there is really no reason to build a base.
I think there needs to be some adjustment on the resting stage, maybe even add a “nap” option so stamina can regen faster for a short period of time, but only long periods of time (when logged off) fully restores max stamina.
I think the fatigue system is actually a good idea. Does it need to be tweaked? Yes it does. Do they maybe need to add a sleep function to recover it quicker? Yeah they probably do. Do they need to make sure that the sleep/rest/logout functions don’t leave a player completely vulnerable? Absolutely.
Now I actually like the fatigue system for a number of different reasons as I think it slows the game down to a more realistic pace. I like that it keeps every player from being an android marathon runner. Players sprinting from one side of the map to the other in minutes with only short rests makes the map much smaller. By forcing you to jog or walk or at least hike more in the hills it makes the map much bigger when it takes time to get somewhere. It also means that you don’t have a base getting raided, the defenders killing off the raiders, and then get hit with another wave only a few minutes later because the raiders respawned at their base and sprinted back. It cuts back on the constant pressure element giving defenders a chance to breathe, heal, and make repairs.
Further I like that carrying around everything including the kitchen sink in going to wear you out faster until you rest. A player with a hiking backpack full of scrap metal, two guns, a pistol in a holster, a fully loaded jacket, waist pack, pants, shirt, and ballistic vest should not be able to make multiple trips across the map in short succession to fully clear out an item spawn area, or raided base. You should have to make choices about the gear you carry, the items you take, and have to plan your raids, bunker runs, and collecting trips carefully and with logistics in mind. Plus if you did just loot everything from a base you should absolutely need to take time to carry it all away and thus provide a chance for the owners to catch up with you. That adds a whole new dimension to raiding. Like they say when backpacking, “If you don’t sweat the ounces, you will sweat the pounds.”
Yes when combined with constantly decreasing CON stats this seems like overkill. Like I said I think it needs to be tweaked, heavily. If you run in game for the game equivalent of say 30-45 min daily that should be enough to improve your CON stat past any daily drain without adding so much fatigue that you have to log out and come back the next day to play again. Similarly resting for a bit on your bedroll or running a sleep cycle for a few minutes should be enough to lose your fatigue. And yeah if you run yourself down to single digit levels of stamina you probably should have to sleep it off over night in game. Does that need to be a log out and come back tomorrow thing, no. But there should be a cost to everything you do.
i think the acumulated fatigue sleeping resting time is intent for when your not playing you put your chr to sleep
What’s the problem? There’s a simulator game for everything else, why not have a “Sleeping simulator” as well? Glad I didn’t update the game on my laptop yet, Think I’ll stick with single player for a while!
devs suck balls in this year thats all broing game
Personally I kinda like the fog it’s kinda cool, the combo locks shouldn’t be on vehicles or boxes. The fatigue system and bedrolls is cool as well but they ABSOLUTELY need to either tweak the rates or allow the rates to be a server setting not just on off. Over an hour irl to recover stamina which will also drop our Con skill is utterly ridiculous no one wants to play napping simulator
I think that this system of combinations is fine, but I would implement it to be functional only when a player is offline, as an offline protection. When the player is online those locks should be able to be double locked like normal locks with a little more difficulty.
The implementation of the stamina is bad, the map is very big and you can run through the entire map without finding something to move on.
Explosives vs prefab doors would balance this. Sadly that’s not the state currently.
I like the slower gameplay direction they are going for, bcs there are millions of other games designed for rush style.
No way. These locks are brilliant. For someone who is on a high pop server, getting raided once a week, sometimes twice a day, these locks are going to force raiders to use C4 or grenades to blow up walls or deter them. For those who don’t raid, what do you care? You don’t have to pick them anyway.
Stamina fatigue should only accumulate as a result of not sleeping or eating for awhile.
Fog wouldn’t bother me to much as long as it isn’t over used. Fog in certain area’s that seems like marshland/swamps it would seem appropriate.
Combination locks seem great but yeah it needs to be limited to 1.
The endurance thing seems needless in a gaming environment as realistic as it may seem. If they want to utilize resting in this game they have to make it so you have a down time of maybe 5mins for a full rest. This is a video game, not a sleep simulator.
They are trying out the waters for free to play systems in game.
Oh, your energy is low (fatigue high), just buy more energy in the ingame store with scumbucks, which are only acquired by using your Visa or Mastercard.
About the Dial Locks need to be limit where you use them. For example chests , garage, lockers, like irl. Any door that has keyhole you use the silver/gold locks
I am one of the players that have left SCUM. The reason was excessive offline raiding. Because of this, I fully support the lock change. Polls on the subreddit have clearly indicated 90% of the player base is PVE. I am a 100% PVP player, but I do not want my shit stolen by sweaty try-hards when I’m asleep. I understand there are custom servers with PVE areas, but I don’t play those because of silly loot bots, admin cheating, etc. IMHO offline base raiding should be default OFF on official servers. When the player is present on the server then raid away. We need to understand that the pro-raiding segment of the player base is an extreme minority. You don’t lose 90% of the player base to cater to 10%. Get rid of offline raids.
The fatigue system is severely flawed, I agree. But you forgot to mention another crucial element to this system. Energy drinks completely remove the effects of fatigue instantly and it lasts a good while. Coffee also has a similar effect to resting by removing some fatigue over time. You can get them for cheap at the saloon and fill your canteens to save space. Now the entire formula is messed up, but this is the essence of early access. This is how they test new features and tweak them based on the community. You can disable this in server setting but I really hope they do make it more manageable. I think it will add a lot of PvE value.
I agree that we shouldn’t be able to lock vehicles and prefabs with these new locks, but I think the new locks will motivate people to seek higher-end loot and C4 to properly raid big bases and not just have one person lying down lockpicking while his squad camps the doors. My main concern is why are they pumping out new features before fixing major issues with vehicles that should’ve been fixed by now. I miss flying around in my plane.
Who knows maybe this is an early April Fools joke 🙂
Great coverage man. Hopefully it’s reworked or taken out completely. I liked the way it’s been all the years.
Couldn’t have put it better, any mechanism that makes you go AFK, stop playing or even worse, watch the character doing FA is broken. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea? What next? Watching paint dry sim? 7.5k hrs here and my entire squad has stopped playing, they are turning the game into tax and dentist sim. No fun here folks.
