LTM helps with casual retention, I think if they keep control and other mode permanent they can hold that casual player base, find the fun in different ways without too much sweat you know

Hal kind of nailed it, imo. As a casual player (forcibly, 42, job, family, can’t no-life game anymore) I just quit Apex. The amount of investment required to get a good return (joy/entertainment) is far far far too high (imo) so I moved on to other shooters like Hunt:Showdown for my “competitive” gaming and the ultra casual D2 for general after work fun.

2:59 yeah yeah sure, game hard, casuals sweaty, big whoop what do you expect when faide exists. Can we please talk about how broken the matchmaking is for ranked?? Mande kills 3 plat players… he’s 3 whole ranks above them. This literally does not and CANNOT happen in other comp shooters like Val, CSGO, even COD. It’s bs that those plat players that are just tryna play and have fun run into a pro pred team WHILE PLAYING RANKED where they are in theory supposed to be fighting against people of the same rank. Respawn, plats having to fight preds for the benefit of queue times aka streamers playing aka influencing many viewers to play it aka players spending money aka it’s all a money scheme in the long run, is absolute horse shit and ruins the integrity of your game. But no one cares as long as you can tap strafe wall bounce zip line bounce like a faide taxi aceu wannabe.

A guy literally did a wall bounce 180 tap strafe and completely shitted on me in my game the other day. Mind you I’ve only been playing this game for two weeks so I’m fairly new. I totally suck and want to get better which is why I will play. But I can’t imagine a casual enjoying an experience like that

while i only play Casual playlist because of my skill level, Apex being so sweaty and the skill gap being so immensely huge IS EXACTLY WHY THE GAME IS SO FKN FUN.
sure Dying to someone you cant kill because theyre better isnt the most fun, but its WAYYYY more fun than playing Warzone and dropping 20+ kills because nobody shot back but maybe thats just me

It’s great that Apex is competitive we can all agree on that but when that becomes the main focus over fun is when a game begins to ultimately lose steam. Once the majority of players, who are casuals, begin to leave for something more fun the game will begin to decline. Games need players more than they need a competitive scene, what’s the point if all the casuals don’t even tune in or care to play anymore. All you have is a dead game. Like I said I love that Apex is competitive but focusing solely on that and pushing out the fun will ultimately kill it. There needs to be a balance.

And before anyone comes after me I know fun can mean different things to different people but in general it’s not fun landing and dying every drop in a casual pubs setting because high ranked players just sweat out in Pubs once they grind to Masters on their 6 accounts. Just my opinion though idk.

As a player with 80k kills multiple times pred and master but i stopped playing 4 seasons ago i could call myself a casual since the first thing i do when i want to have fun and chill when i find few hours to play after full day at work is to open a different game
