im playing 40-80 fps but trying to use movement a lot (sometimes its really hard)
i play constantly on 50-60 fps and tapsteafe is easiest
I play on 20-30fps and im fine
As a console player so far playing this game since season 0. I have been through 6 controllers (2 standard 4 pro); 2 headphones (due for a third); two consoles (From X-box 1S to Series X) and a gaming monitor 165Hz, 1ms refresh rate. But most importantly I improved my internet. in total I bought two Internet range extenders then stopped using those, and got an Internet signal booster and then I bought 5G modem network….yep it ain’t cheap to compete with the best
Yeah j struggle hitting consistent supers at 140-165
I’ve heard higher frame rates make harder super glides
So when you say you need to scroll faster at lower FPSs that’s actually wrong, and probably more so the reason why you weren’t able to super jump or tap strafe effectively.
While they are FPS dependent, most tap strafes you see in game can be done at low FPSs, it just becomes a bit harder as you have to limit your scrolling speed. High FPS is only really needed for high speed tap strafing, like what we used to be able to do on gravity cannons, and to a lesser extent jump pads, grapples, and some other niche places.
The reason for this is that Apex polls inputs on a frame by frame basis. So if it sees you pressed forward on frame 1 and then it sees forward is pressed on frame 2, it will interpret that as a single press, even if it wasn’t. This is important because tap strafes and super jumps require multiple, separate, inputs to work. So if the rate of your scrolling matches your FPS, it won’t be treated as being separate inputs because the game sees it as being pressed every frame and thus treats it as one continuous press. So what you really want to do is scroll, at most, half the rate of your FPS, to allow for at least a 1 frame gap between inputs for the game to recognize that you released forward. Same thing for jumps and super jumping, it requires two jump inputs, and if you scroll too quickly, you’ll only get 1 input.
TGM says 60fps doesn’t feel good… me over here playing on 50fps on my steamdeck….
60 fps is what most people can afford…
I literally play on a crappy old second hand xbox one s that I had to repair when I bought it, with a controller that has to be plugged in to work, the frame rates drop every time I shoot a shot to the point it’s totally noticeable so probably like 10fps. The xbox probably struggles to get close to 60fps, I play on an old 4k 55inch tv and still pc players say I’ve got the advantage…
I’m any comp games it’s really does take skill to know and how to use all kinds of mechanics for controllers only a few people have master those skills
Yes there little to no room on controller but takes more skill than PC players
Gunna be honest @thegamingmerchant – if you’d named this video something just a little more relevant I would’ve been more inclined to watch.
I understand the need to click bait. And you know your numbers better than me. So maybe this is overall more effective for you.
But you didn’t find out that apex is pay to win- as your thumbnail implies. You’re ACTUALLY doing a deep dive into the relationship between frame rates and movement. A potentially very interesting thing.
But it feels a little gross- a little dishonest and ragebaitey to use players fear of pay to win to frame your legitimately very interesting video.
Again. Clickbait is important for clicks.BUT. correctly click baiting in a way that sets correct expectations and feels genuine is important for watch time and return views and overall channel views.
Again. You’ve been at this a whole lot longer than me. Maybe no one else feels this way and this thumbnail isn’t my personal taste.
Just food for thought as I’m learning this whole process for myself.
Console stuck on 60 😂
I play 30fps
I play on an average of 47 FPS on my Xbox one…
the way the devs intended for the game to run vanilla (constant 144) wasn’t tested? a little oversight there
in 60fps it sounds like skill issue to me
Thanks for the video TGM! It made me realize I had been playing with 60 Hz refresh rate on my monitor for past two months. 😀 Got some new HW+Win and I didnt realize it reseted to 60 hz, kinda pointless to have 144 fps in game when your screen is capped only at 60.
Nice vid!
I see alot of preds and masters who bought their accounts and play like plats
