the cool thing about fate is that even if they gender bent historical figures to be females and what not,you know there not doing it to shove their agenda and politics in your face,they do it because either the writer like it(like how we get way more stuff about Camelot then any other lore)or they think the fan will like it and it will sale.
but even with the gender bent and all that nonsense,you can see there was a lot of research being doing into the heroic spirits history and lore.
it may sound dumb,but i learned a lot about historical figures from fate because i thought “yo this guy is cool,let’s look him up”.
and FGO also actually make their lore effect how they act what they say and even their skills and abilities.
