A pleasant suprise to see Elderlicht, I think you will enjoy it.
It was a nice strategy to let the horde get closer for better corpse piles, but if you watch closely on the gound when you kill an enemy you will see that they leave behind a corpse.
Corpse piles are generated not only by how close they are to the Haven, but also by how many enemies have died on the same tile.
Elderlicht have a very hight amount of enemies each wave so the amount of enemies that have to die on the same tile is increased.
This increase, combined with the size of the map makes it difficult to generate decent corpse piles, unless you really go for it.
(Using skills that reduce movement with the druid staff or Gun can really help with this)
Unfortunately you had killed a lot of enemies before you started trying to injure them and let them die closer to the Haven, so not enough enemy corpses could be stacked on top of eachother to generate decent piles.
Unexpected, but not unwelcome. For the algorithm.
Reto, I have no words for the respect I feel for you – not giving up on the series despite falling views out of your love for the game. Were the world more like you, ‘twould be a better one.

In short the closer the enemy dies to the base the better for corpse pile chances number of enemies dying in that exact spot helps aswell. I always setup a strat to slow elites and kill most everything else then use a tank to take a hit meant for my walls from the elite so the elite dies right next to the haven area works often 50% for elite carrion corpses to drop. Gets harder to coordinate later on with substantial ballista support but early on works well.
