I literally never take my carry gun out of the holster except to clean it and shoot it at the range. even when it’s in the safe it is holstered because im lazy and when its late and dark id rather grab a holstered gun and avoid accidentally fanning the trigger in a high stress moment. yes i know it would require me removing the holster to shoot but thats a simple action.

My father carries without a holster in his pocket, but he’s also one of those guys that doesn’t carry a round in the chamber because “all he has to do” is pull it out and “rack it” if he needs it.

1:00 – Noir, I completely agree with most of this, however some weapons can malfunction causing firing pins to drop causing an unintentional discharge. It’s extremely rare, proper maintenance helps prevent this as well as holsters or in some cases just not leaving a round chambered. Some holsters help with this by allowing you to carry it unchambered and when deploying your weapon, the holster assist with clambering a round while drawing the firearm. The only 100% way to safely store or carry said firearm is with the chamber remaining empty. Having systems in place that speed up deployment of your firearm aren’t necessarily required but give you the advantage when it counts. I definitely realize many people will disagree with my statement that ” the only 100% safe way is to keep the chamber empty”, but like my father once told me “pulling it out works most of the time but if you want peace of mind just don’t put it in”.
