I believe Hololive was put in a tough position. They invested into China and the reason they were not bankrupt was due to big support from China keeping Fubuki and Aqua afloat which was pretty much sustaining the company. Big balls by them to make the conscious decision to abandon China and props to Fubuki for allowing herself to take the hit financially. They then proceed to invest in the west and let Nijisanji deal with China.

I didn’t really follow it but last i heard they got to keep their models. Really sad to hear they couldnt. I’m glad hololive cut ties with China but i was expecting them to keep the models. Shame.

If anything you can always feel good that the people in China who got their panties in a bunch over Taiwan will always live in a Final Destination movie. Just look up the recent volleyball roof collapse, tofu-dreg will eliminate all who canceled coco lol.

I started watching Hololive long before that controversy went down. This also the time where I am completely aware of the CCP’s malicious behavior in the geopolitical landscape, notably this was when I already had knowledge of what happened to Hong Kong (ala Blitzchung and Rockets owner the year before) and how they completely manipulated the world in regards to covid. Cover’s handling of the controversy by getting rid of the China branch was the single best thing that happened to them, despite being how tragic it was, because keep in mind when that happened, HoloEN just debuted (I think), this signaled the western market (myself included) that they are completely favoring them rather than the fragile, and also abusive Chinese market. If that went the other way around they would have completely shattered any potential popularity for the overseas market and would have known as the company that bowed to the CCP. I definitely would have quit watching them if they favored the Chinese market, I’m glad that never happened because Hololive COMPLETELY dominates the overseas market with HoloEN and HoloID (evidenced with Kobo and some of her colleagues)

But most of CN were backstabbers and Artia was the ringleader as they supported the Chinese haters aiming to rid Coco during the Taiwan incident. Only two were innocent because they were Taiwanese. I say they got what was coming, but still sad to see them go.

I don’t think anyone can say that Hololive betrayed Coco. Wasn’t she the leading cause of shitpost/meme reviews for months afterwards bringing in other talents? Wasn’t she to Yagoo like how Pippa is to Sakana? Hell, the chinese antis literally dogged her for years, because she dared to mention the name Taiwan on stream while reading google analytics. Holy shit.

I get the whiteknighting from Pippa, on behalf of her CN oshi, but the backlash from the inclusion of Taiwan on analytics from the Chinese fans alone says enough and is petty entitled behavior.

Better for everyone in the long run for Cover to get out that market while they had the chance.
