Oh Pippa… unfortunately Artia was probably the most toxic and hypocrite about the Coco situation. Her alternate account actively led the attack on Coco on Weibo and Chinese forums, while her Artia account played a good girl and seemingly neutral on Twitter. I followed Artia too before on Twitch, immediately unfollowed when I knew about the crap she’s been doing behind the stage.

tfw Hololive had more balls than most western companies by actually bailing out of the China market. Like seriously, the Chinese audience was a huge reason why Hololive was able to get off the ground back in the early days and eventually do things like an Azur Lane collab. They could have easily given Coco the boot immediately to appease the CN side but they decided to instead not do that, likely since they were planning on expanding into the EN sphere (EN gen 1 had quite literally just debuted shortly before the controversy happened) and probably figured that there is way less eggshells to walk on in the western sphere compared to China.

Also this debate around whether the CN girls helped instigate the tensions always get brought up whenever this controversy is unearthed, as obviously this was a number of years ago and most of these people are probably newer fans. It was mostly 2 of the girls from the CN branch who openly instigated shit, like the biggest mask off moment was when they did a watchalong stream of some Chinese film that is basically a cultural icon of how the Chinese should conduct themselves for the benefit of the state or whatever.

They made it political – there was no way to keep them around without perpetual drama. Hololive made a clean cut and that was the best decision they could have made.

While I also loved Artia she always had a lot of red flags, she just say weird stuff. Like one stream she was ranting how Chinese hackers is a myth that was pushed by racist propaganda.

I don’t understand if Pippa did watch her all the time how she was surprised. Even though I liked Artia a lot, I honestly wasn’t surprised.

What actually surprised me is Civia was a snake along with Artia, she essentially had zero red flags.

I don’t really want to get political, but the nature of the Chinese government kinda makes it political.

I feel bad for the citizens there who wanted nothing to do with that situation, & I feel bad for the talents who showed remorse afterwards or got harassed. So, I can only imagine how it must’ve felt finding out that your favorite was the worst one.

Fuck the CCP, & fuck anyone who supports the CCP.

almost everyone was expecting hololive to go downhill after the whole CN ordeal and i’m so happy these people are so incredibly wrong.

holopro has been on fire ever since lmfao

and coco was never betrayed by cover. we know this for a fact because there are MULTIPLE talents who swore that they’ll leave hololive if coco was unfairly treated, biggest of which(at the time) was fbk.

I remember that at that time, the CCP implemented a law that forces every content creator who uses platforms like billibilli to give their personal ID to the platforms in order to be able to create content and monetize it or something like that. At that that time it felt like a direct attack to Hololive.
Like if it was a way to take hostage other hololive members’ personal info. It felt like a very dirty move against Hololive.
Truly, if anything all that was chinese antis’ fault. I only feel bad for Yogiri and Spade Echo.
