Honestly, makes sense. For one, they’re hiring people to perform a role where they’re not showing themselves in the first place, so it was already very likely there were going to be applicants uncomfortable with a video call. For two, despite how many companies would prefer people think, the fact of the matter is that they need employees/talents and an interview is supposed to be an equal setting between two people who need something. Rejecting a video call, at least in this situation, isn’t a big deal.

It’s a gamble but she got lucky 😎. I think it’s fair for anyone to see the face of the person they’re going to be working with, to get a vibe. But Cover gave her the benefit of the doubt and it paid off. But high chances that if you applied today, they have the luxury to say no.

I hate it too, but I got I job where I I later needed to take care of calling people, generally to find parts that we need for our product

For 6 months at least I made sure to double-check with colleagues or my boss that I wasn’t going to mess it up, but in the end I sucked it up and stopped bothering them if it wasn’t necessary

I still get anxious when I need to call someone, but with a background of calls going well it’s a lot better and I hesitate a lot less

It has even helped me for my personal life, because now I don’t wait months to make calls that shouldn’t have been delayed 🤣
