I used to watch Vox pretty much daily when Luxiem was released. I liked his voice, I liked his mannerism and speech mostly. I am not English, but I do consider myself bilingual. Let’s just say that I was watching him, mostly because I was intrigued at his manner of speaking… And then it became more and more parasocial. I’m not exactly sure when I stopped watching him. It was pretty instant. The “Vox” that I was watching, wasn’t Vox anymore. It’s hard to explain, but I hated to see so many people calling him daddy, sir or whatever. It must have part of his ASMR stream that he had just started I suppose. Parasocial grew, fan base grew until I was just.. no longer interested in watching him. The air, like you’ve explained, has changed around the Luxiem boys. It’s sad, because they used to be inclusive for everyone, men and women could watch them without feeling left out. Now, it’s just a bunch of teens-20s being thirsty in their chat. I don’t know why I went on a rant, but yeah, it made me sad lol
Regarding to NijiID subscriber count…
In my opinion it’s not because lack of management, because NijiID staff really good at supporting their talents like creating a progam, event,or project. The real reason is “Elitism” of their fans, I remember back in 2020 when I was trying to join several NijiID Discord it’s always get kicked for silly reason, either it’s my pfp is hololive or mentioned Hololive. There’s some case like “Aah…You won’t understand this! Go back to your idol simping” said to me, Even though NijiID is more popular in Indonesia compared to their counterpart at that time… their favorite oshi had slow growing due to fans Gatekeeping. (Sorry for my bad English)
47:27 yeah, they’re called “/vt/” and you keep shitting on them even though they’re most of the time either right or the target doesn’t want to respond
The ML button might be a sign that Anycolor might thought of using the same model instead of graduation in the early stage of Vtuber market (before Kizuna AI and Gameclub incident made it a taboo)
And which also make sense merch and voice pack that they put more effort in it earns more than mass produced merch that share 2%
In this case It’s more like VA than streamer well ofc they are streamer now that’s for sure
“Family”
Waiting for an indie revolution frfr, one day 1st and 2nd won’t be holo and niji but holo and a buncha indies 😈😈😈😈😈
Great video. Well structured and it seems neutral and fair in its critique. Generally I think we can’t really just look at „Company A“ as a company that does great business decisions and forgive them bc they have to do what’s „best for business“. Specially if we actually assume that we’re the reason why this has become a billion dollar business for them. As such we should hold the company accountable for their decisions.
That happens in every industry. We criticize Coca Cola and McDonalds for being extremely unhealthy even tho the more sugar the better for their business and we should criticize a talent agency for not managing the talents as best as they can.
Very well-rounded analysis
As one of the fans that came in with the wave of 2022, I only had some of the knowledge and context of what’s been going on.
I think one of the biggest problems with the general perception of Nijisanji right now is the dissonance between corporate culture and entertainment culture. If you look at what Niji has been doing from a strictly *business-minded* perspective, everything makes sense. Especially considering *we don’t know exactly what the contracts dictate* for behaviour between the company and their livers. However, with how “personal” the relationships feel between a fan and their oshi, these actions feel like a direct injustice. This industry is too new, too parasocial, too profitable, and growing far too fast for people to know how to react to the things that are happening.
Yes, Nijisanji should be doing something to rectify the situation (from a moral standpoint) but I doubt they’ll feel the pressure to actually do anything until their profits tank more than what releasing a new wave can cover. Whenever something happens they like to bandaid the situation with a new wave or mew merch, but one day that’s not gonna work. The train is moving too fast and it’s gonna get derailed if they don’t slow down or course correct within the next 3-5 years.
NAHHH BUT FR NIJI BUILDING THEIR COMMUNITY PILLARS ON TWITTER WAS A HORRIBLE HORRIBLE MISTAKE 💀💀💀💀💀💀
What’s currently happening to vtubers looks a lot like what happened to youtubers back in the day with MCNs. There were some good networks that actually provided value (reach, copyright protection, some degree of monetization through sponsorships, etc), but a lot of them just provided an initial boost in viewership with no (or negative) benefit thereafter. Pure rent seekers. It’s sad to see how many vtuber agencies are purely rentseeking.
Hmm, Gaijin, I think about now.
So do the talents even get money from their superchats? The fans are sending the talents their money because they want to support them. Selen just got a “red carpet” treatment for her nijipets stream, does that mean she’s only seeing 2% of all those red supers? What’s going to happen when fans decide it’s not worth the effort if their oshis don’t see enough money from their donations to that oshi?
This is probably just copium, but I have a suspicion that things might turn out better if Anycolor just sells all of Niji to Cover, as long as the agreement stipulates that all of the talents keep their positions. I don’t keep up with all of the drama, but it’s been quite a bit since I’ve heard anything bad about Hololive, whereas bad news about Niji seems to show up again and again. The Niji talents would need to censor some of their more questionable stuff, sure, but their management quality would massively increase, I think, and that might make it worthwhile.
I started this rabbit hole with hololive back just before the pandemic. I got into nijisanji when they started having English characters. For a long time I would see new nijisanji clips showing up on my timeline and I had no idea who they were. It wasn’t until recently that I realized how big nijisanji actually was.
A really well made and well rounded video. 👍
I don’t like Nijisanji. However, I like their vtubers. They’re the only vtubers I watch. And if they go independent, I’ll watch them anyway.
/vt/ try not to bitch and schizo post about Nijisanji for a single microsecond challenge (%100 impossible)
I still remember when they brag about NIJI EN as a group of family, a Vtuber group with freedom and shit on Hololive because they are an idol group and restricted hence they are not fun, how karma works is wonderful. It’s like others said, Hololive wins by doing nothing, and the others shoot themself in the foot.
great video but are we just going to pretend this bozo didn’t leak vtubers faces behind a pay wall, then say he was quitting and come back almost immediately after
I think Zaion is a much better person than Niji seemed to let on, and it’s because of her sacrifice that we know she blew the company open on all the hidden shit they do.
