This is inspired by nordic folk lore. In sweden we call the “violin dude” – “Näcken”
Also the song in the beginning is a song we sing at the start of summer (when school is finished)

The sweet happy intro showed you how to crouch but none of the actually relevant mechanics for the spooky part, so the little tutorial-through-gameplay had to happen after the switch to spooky and where messing up the unfamiliar moves was instant death. Feels like a blunder not having the gnome section be a block-pushing climbing challenge instead of just cute, so when it went spooky there wouldn’t need to be another section of introductory gameplay.

IMO the second Little Nightmares is better. There’s several scenes in that game that felt really impactful to me, and they stuck with me more than anything from the first one (maybe apart from that last scene in the first).
