A little context on how the boys see Altare: Vesper has said before (not direct quote) that Altare is really great at motivating the group with his down to Earth personality. He’s also somewhat a jack of all trades in his content when other members have a particular focus. Vesper is the “King of Zatsudans”, Magni is the comedian and Axel has a stronger focus on music and his unseiso moments. Altare does all of these things, but he’s not too heavily spec’ed into one.

For Luxiem, it’s a weird case cuz, like Nousagi already said, Vox has his immense influence and Luca with his kayfabe. Then you have Mysta who organized the group game show collabs (Vox admitting that his game show was inspired by Mysta). Then there’s Shu and Ike who have noticeable influence in and out of their group, where Ike helps with music covers and Shu with his trademarked Shupport.

I wouldn’t say Ame is a leader, or anyone in Myth really. Ame has groundbreaking ideas that she likes to include her genmates in, but that’s about it. Myth members tend to do as they please and don’t follow one another. Kiara also has planned a lot of shit, probably more than Ame. I wouldn’t pin leader to any one member of any generation. Even with HoloX and Laplus who is leader by lore, the girls do as they please and have their own ambitions for their own content. I wouldn’t weigh ambitions and use that to pick a leader. What good is branding someone a leader anyway, for us the audience and for the talents being branded as leaders? I rather there not be role pressure applied to these already overworked talents

I just love Altare as the HoloTempus leader, he’s such a cinnamon roll. Especially when you’re watching TSB, he’s definitely the leader even though he’s the lowest point xD

Ame and Altare are the trope because it’s their lore
Ame is basically batman with the justice league and Altare is the one who started the guild
What cements them as leaders tho is Ame’s innovation and hard carrying behind the scenes stuff and Altare’s care and dedication for his genmates

Everyone else it’s a title given as the situation demands it like kiara and axel setting up huge collabs, fauna hard carrying the ender dragon boss fight

Niji feels like a bunch of bros having a good time with no clear leader tbh and used more as a “i don’t want to do this you do it” or “idk what I’m doing so tag you’re it” which happens to fall to the same few people usually, if anything

For Holox, Laplus is supposed to be the leader according to the lore, but i always viewed Lui as the “actual” leader due to how supportive she is to her genmates, like a mama caring for her daughters

I wouldn’t call Subaru the leader of Gen 2 either, I would see her more like an embassador. Her extroverted and friendly energy is perfect for making connections and building bridges. All the while she’s also professional and likeable to keep those interactions genuine and grounded (not to mention funny given how she’s a natural comedian whether she wants it or not)

I’d love to see you tackle the topic of “Staying in character” if possible. I’d like to hear the differences it makes when a VTuber sticks to their gimmick or when they don’t really take it too seriously.
Like, Calli didn’t take her “cool reaper” thing too far and delved more into her own personality but someone like Luna or Sakamata seem remain in character more.

I find it very interesting that you kept showing elira during this video. She’s definitely the leader of lazulight and could probably be considered the face of NijiEN, but based on your own definitions, the “leader” of the branch is almost certainly Selen

Ame is the leader. In real life, she helps with others’s projects, tech support, even things like making special models for Halloween. FACT is that Hololive English would be worse without her, because we wouldn’t just miss her streams, EVERYONE’S streaming would be worse without her. She’s the pillar the rest are built on. And from a lore standpoint, this cast of weird otherworldly mythic creatures being led by a human just… Makes sense, somehow.
