5:43 Wait what Kiara stream was that?
Pretty much what I got from this is that people have a tendency to fall into the mindset of Ako from “And You Thought There Is Never A Girl Online” where she can’t seperate what’s part of the game and what’s reality
As much as we criticize the ‘fanatics’ overstepping their bounds, it still isn’t as scary as what happens in real-life relationships when they break down. Seen friends turn into completely different people. From constant harassment to trying to put the other in prison with false allegations. So seeing some bad apples out of a million followers doesn’t seem so bad. They are just the loudest and should be ignored ….still raises blood pressure though.
There is socialism in it then of course it would be bad
Well I’ve seen a lot of Parasocial people becoming toxic time to time when it comes to female/male collabs combined. I’ve told many of those people to go touch some grass. I’m not saying all people who are attached to their oshis are bad. It’s just when they basically stop respecting the wishes of their favorite v-tubers and cross the line.
I will always say this to everyone and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one: V-Tubers (Both gender) are not yours. You do not own them, nor belong to anyone. They are entertainers and are only here just to make your day anytime. Keep in mind that behind these models are REAL people. They do not know you and you do not know them on all levels. Even if they are in a relationship with someone. Please respect his or her wishes. They also do not wish to be shipped with their friends/co-workers. You can draw fanarts of all ships that pleases fans or yourself but as long as you don’t brush it up on your oshi. If they’re just friends, respect that. You’ll make them feel very uncomfortable around each other so keep that in mind.
If they are doing ASMR roleplays, You do NOT take it seriously. Remember that your oshi is playing a part. He/She are acting. Don’t take the scenario so seriously or think that you are actually in a relationship. That ruins it for everyone.
Another thing, If your oshi is trying to create something new, whether having a collaboration with other content creators outside company, You do not get to control them or telling them how or what to do. Let them handel it. You do not harass anyone who tries to call for help, etc. If your oshi makes mistakes, Stop babying him/her. They are grown people and they should already know how to handel controversial stuff.
It is that simple. If you do not wish to see your oshi collab with some dude then don’t watch it. Just wait for the next stream if he/she are doing solo. You don’t have to send unnecessary comments in order to stir up attention.
Do not gatekeep them either. There is really no excuse for you to do that. Let these v-tubers be. Do not ruin the mood for everyone about your problems or troubles. Send an email to management and they’ll handel it.
I hope everyone understands that.
Thanks for explaining in the vid.
As someone who has had the recieving end of parasocialism. It honestly can be terrifying knowing that what was only meant to help people out of their rut and get back on their feet or talk them off the of the edge ends up with people who deify me or get mad when they see me interacting with someone else. Though I may be using the term wrong and the only correct term is stalker, of which I also had one of those irl and have had plenty in the virtual space. Still I really feel for the Vtuber community as I know how bad it is in Japan it being a major reason that they can never show anything relating to their irl selves. As well as to keep the illusion alive and such is because they can end up with their more extreme fans hunting them down irl
I’ve always had this weird fear of accidentally being parasocial or eventually having to come to terms with the fact that I may or may not be so emotionally attached to someone online that I obsess over them. I almost never miss a stream, I buy some of the merch when it’s available, and even if I don’t give my full attention, I always enjoy whatever the stream may be. But as time has gone on, I realized I’m probably a lot less parasocial than I initially expected, especially since I hardly think about her in my daily life outside of announcements that determine what entertainment I’m going to enjoy that night. Which makes me shudder at the idea of what living a true parasocial nightmare would be like if I had gone off the deep end.
Ah yes I love ludwig he is my best friend
The fact about vtubers is that it’s similar to being a celebrity but with more active engagement with their community.
It has pros and cons, but I think the one thing people on both sides have to realize is that:
When it comes to streaming, it’s usually just the vtuber enjoying themselves by themselves. The viewer is just along for the ride.
As Malaysian, I love to see Kaela make ‘GSH’ treatment to Pemaloe.
So in short, it’s like with everything. The dosage is making the poison. It can be a healthy medicine, but also an absolutely devastating toxin.
And for Vtubing… The pot in which the poison is being brewed is just a tad hotter than for other things.
Kiara is great for keeping fans grounded.
I am a KFP enjoyer.
0:51 ONG don’t remind me of that it’s actually one of the most memorable sad moments anime internet fandom (or something like that).
I hear Dying Light 1 music, I click like, automatically based, great game, also Dying Light 2 sucks ass
This is why I really appreciate Kaela reminding her chat to get some help!
Parasocial relationships has been bad ever since probably Beatles or even before that.
speaking about that at least VTuber fans aren’t accidentaly killing eachother like what has happened on several music concerts and festivals where fans would not even bat an eye over steping upon others to get closer to the artist/bands….
I don’t have a parasocial relationship with Amelia Watson. It’s totally normal to want to lock her in your basement to see how long it takes her to build a mecha.
Another Banger video
imagine a train of network of parasocialism where chat is parasocial towads a vtuber who’s then parasocial towards another vtuber and so on.
8:52 VOX tweets like these are just funny to me
