isn’t simping gottem accepted and glorified for normal streamers too?
Virgin “VCHUBA NO YOU CANT COLLAB WITH OTHER MALES, YOU ARE MY WIFE”(Litteraly sharing with other Anon Males)
Vs
Chad “Eww why do i want to be your Husband”(Pikamee, Millie, and Enna Chat in a nutshell)
As you Said parasocialism CAN be healthy. Hell i began practicing singing just because some Vtubers made karaoke’s and cover songs.
The problem is When they mix up their idea of their relationship with a real one.
In SEA, collab = content
it honestly really depends on the Vtuber, we’ve got enablers who bank on parasocialism and we’ve got people who are so naturally charismatic that they aren’t aware they’re attracting social parasites. Some of the EN girls fall on the latter spectrum.
but you’re right, there are stages of parasocialism that are tolerable but unfortunately I can’t relate since I’m a social parasite to my video games
This parasocial thing is temporary don’t worry about it
I used to simp coco all day, now I don’t simp coco anymore… I simp kson instead 😂
I just had another thought which brought me back here again:
I think that VTubers who’s more open about ther IRL life and starting to drop the architype/character has an easier time to handle the parasocial deep end problem unironically. Like Okayu forexample just recently revealed her IRL age casually.
I might be wrong though but to me it gave me a: Oh right THEY ARE REAL PEOPLE after all kinda thing.
Weird how you put segments of clips of specifically Delutaya when explicitly mentioning creators are the ones to often be the first to start unhealthy parasocial relations within streams.
11:49 who’s the dude on the right? I know everyone else expect for him. (inb4 someone tells me it’s some random art 😅)
“cant entirely blame the gachi’s, because it starts with the vtubers first (making friends with chat)”
sorry, but i 100,000% HARD disagree with this statement. it is absolutely and entirely gachi’s to blame here. content creators cannot be held accountable for mental instability on their viewer’s part in the same way game developers cannot be held responsible for irl violence. there is a very clear cut boundary between FICTION and REALITY. vtubers fall under fictional entertainment. there is nothing to suggest otherwise. you cant even make the argument that vtubers are real because of the real-time interaction behind a real human behind an avatar. IT IS FICTIONAL ENTERTAINMENT. period.
if your frontal lobe fails, and you are no longer able to distinguish fiction from reality. THATS ON YOU.
edit: and also fuk u for sneaking in that song at the end lmao.
Meanwhile, among the German VTubers I watch, one has a husband (who has quite some presence on her streams), while another other has a boyfriend (who’s also a VTuber). Neither seem to suffer from being open about those relationships. Conclusion (aside that Hololive and Nijisanji VTubers aren’t that fun to watch anymore, because of how drama-prone they’ve become): Be open that you are in a relationship (don’t have to mention any details) or that you wouldn’t just stay single for your fans is the way to go.
Of course, that also means losing out on several potential fans. While those aren’t the ones anyone should want, they are profitable, so a number of VTubers do want to attract them. Not to mention VTuber companies and, of course, Hololive and Nijisanji are right at the top of it, intentionally fostering strong parasocialism. Not that they want their VTubers to be harassed (that’s “just” an unfortunate side effect), but they want their fans to be very strongly attached to them, simply because that brings in big money. That’s also why I found it hard to take Finana seriously, when, during the drama about Vox and Reimu, she was bitching about “parasocial fucks” on Twitter… while having videos and merch that is intended to attract said “parasocial fucks”.
i just wanted to say that i really appreciate the work and effort you clearly put into creating this video
it’s well made, you presented your thoughts and opinions in a very logical and orderly fashion, and it gave me an opportunity to really take a minute to organise my own thoughts and make sense of my own “flavour” of parasocialism
thanks for the great content, hats down, sir 🙏
I find the simping culture to be a kind and accepting community. It’s the few parasocial bunch in any community that gives an entire fan base a bad name. I understand my oshi has a life of their own and I don’t really know them just cuz they stream for 3 hours a day. As you said, they’re all just entertainers
9:50 I doubt half of the fanbase this is cool, for the most part they are suspicious.
My opinion of my oshis gachis is that any of them could be their next anti or stalker.
Tbh, something always just irked me whenever vtubers do ‘looking at their viewers room’ streams, and they comment on lack of merch of theirs, or merch of other vtubers. Like…why? Its even more inexplicable when they are within the same agency, where their earnings are pooled together to fund different projects anyways.
Dam why you got to play the Edge runners ost almost at the end their 💔 my boy david
Mister Vox’s fanbase scares the shit out of me. Actually almost all of luxiems fanbase scares me.
I went to the gym and eat healthy because I want to keep living and see Moona become a big star.
The dying light menu music hits HAAAARDD
Youtube and other streaming platforms have monetized your “attention”. On the other hand, vtubers, indie or agency, have monetized PS.
