after watching vox i started to shit better, i think most of my indigestion problems are gone. I take parasocial dumps with my favorite vtubers when they shit i suddenly feel like shitting, it has helped me tremendously

1. What is an entertainer without parasocialism? Is it really true to say that ‘healthy prarasocialism’ is the magic of vtubing when the same can be said for any entertainment industry, such as how the charisma of Hellena Taylor kept people wanting for her as a personality for Bayonetta despite her current non-involvement?

2. Are people stirring up drama videos over a vtuber parasocials? Those who develop a relationship with target vtubers in the name of curiosity? Or those with an intense desire for the truth (like me, who write this post despite not caring much vtubers? Am I now one)? Or those who have very antagonistic intentions like antis?

3. What happens when we violate the implied assumption that an anime character is the basis of a vtuber’s avatar? Let’s put up a Porche Camaro PNG as the avatar instead, and stream BFEs/GFEs using that picture? How about the audience forming that relationship with that car picture?

4. What if the intent of a vtuber has never been to work that “magic” with their viewers? What if their intent is to just have a private space to do whatever they want? With a fake avatar? With no care about their ‘character’ nor their ‘audience’ or ‘sub counts’?

5. Is it right to accuse Hololive as solely propagating the ‘idol’ culture within the Vtubing industry? What about the big 4 including Kizuna Ai? Are they free of responsibility?

6. You fail to account for cultural differences between Eastern and Western individuals that explain the differential perception between Asian and Non-Asian audiences. Western individuals are more outgoing and outreaching than the more conventionally introverted Asians. Their lifestyles and cultures also promote IRL social and communal interactions as compared to Asian culture which do not such social-centered values as much.

7. The final minute is the most important one: Parasocialism is an individual problem beyond the control of the entertainer. It depends on individual lifestyle and behavior, an unfortunate observation considering the current profile of the modern vtubing audience.

Glad I actually know the line. As I went into the vtuber rabbit hole I see the good and bad side. I just couldn’t get into the whole female oshi thing. It felt weird and I keep thinking it a Career path they choose and that they are people outside the model specially if you know of the pasts life. For Al we know they could have a family IRL. I just want to watch fun streamer. And actually I been watching more Holotempus more then the girls lately and this coming from a guy who watch the girls for 2 years

The most annoying part about Parasocial nerds is how they get so jealous when their Oshi wants to collab with a male, even before she said anything about it, they already gatekeep & built narratives that “There’s no way she would collab with a male, because she is shy, because she wants to avoid drama, she’s holding the line for us the fans, etc.” and when she actually does, they get mad over some “illusion” they built themselves. It’s really hilarious to watch. I have never seen a human being acted so hallucinatedly pathetic like that LOL. These people should go back to suck on their Mom’s t*ts, because that might be the only t*ts they will ever get to suck in their life.

I feel fans and content creators need to work together to figure out parasocial issues it can be easy to forget steamers get attached to fans as well, content creators who might appear to be manipulating fans with human parasocial traps might actually be in the same boat,I feel it stems from basic human nature as if you bump into someone you know on the street your brains immediate reaction is to talk to that person whereas the brain can’t anticipate the internet

The scary part is, anyone can fall into the deep end. I’m lucky I have people around me to keep me grounded, but without them, I might’ve never gotten out of it. I used to watch vtubers for almost 12 hours a day. It was rough. Glad I’m starting to limit myself and using that time to doother things. Keep it in moderation and remember that real relationships are always better than a parasocial relationship.

im glad you made this video, many ppl naively think they can avoid these things or that for them it will be different. you pointing out its inseparably connected to the activity needs to be shown. its existed online since even the early age of Youtubing when pewdiepie was young though it is as you say more prone to happen in streaming.

As a female I use to have a terrible love life and two years ago all my friends hop on the vtubers hype train during covid and I started watching vtubers myself one thing tho I have terrible attendemet issues and I had depression during covid because of lonely and I didn’t have a partner and all my friends had and not me…but one I started watching vox and become really attracted to him due to the point it become unhealthy..but one day I met a guy who that I slowly develop a crush on him and I snap out of the parasocial relationship and actually develop a irl relationship… And now im in a healthy relationship with someone

The main problem is for all the lonely people who could be putting all that time and or money into a real relationship or partner instead but are now stuck in all these parasocial relationships that will never go anywhere and usually end badly.
