It’s a game. It should be enjoyable. Remote raiding makes the game enjoyable, fun and above all accessible. Also – why nerf remote raiding instead of making in person raids more tempting? I just can’t follow the train of thought for anyone advocating for this change. Local communities don’t exist, even in London, and they won’t get revived. If they cap remotes, you are alienating the majority of the player base. And for what? Not everyone can dump time into this game; it’s a lunch break thing or 15 minutes whilst the kids are napping. This change makes the game worse for everyone. I’m getting tired with modern gaming being a chore. I’m not excited for updates anymore, it’s just ‘how are they making the game worse this time’.
this guy has defo not seen other countrys gyms decenty we have seen how many gyms he has in singapore we can only dream about it
Here’s a crazy idea 💡 given it’s a game and it should be fun, how about we come up with fun incentives and rewards for parts of the game they want to push. Instead of annoying people by making the game worse to force them into a certain play style. No one should be advocating for the removal of features, ever. It makes everyone’s lives worse and the game weaker. If you want in person raids, sure! But get there via positive changes, not this.
Pokémon Go is going to lose soooooo many, it’s not complicated. Pokémon is being stupid AF
Niantic is just shooting themselves in the foot at this point.
Let the people do what they want to do! Why are they limiting anything? I prefer the comfort of my own home especially when it snows more than half the year where I am. Today it is 6 degrees Fahrenheit. Raise the price do whatever they want but let the people do what they want! Power to the people!
The fact is that a very minuscule percentage of people play pokemon go to meet people. That is for community leaders and content creators. Less than 10% of the player base are one of those to care about meeting up with the community. Maybe less. Majority of players play from home so I don’t see why this change is necessary at all.
Edit: They had a overfilled park of people a couple days ago and they are worried about community meet up😕 get the f out of here with that
Not all players have the luxury of living in big cities and having plenty of time to go out and raid. I myself live in a small town, a handful of players and a single gym, our weather is terrible so going out just to raid is a stupid idea for us even during decent weather. Remote raids actually help us rural players get pokemon we could never dream of getting without remote raids
Let be real ” more player proactive in pogemon go ” is not gonna happen .. I understand 10 for limited but 6 ? That’s is terrible game plan.
People are not coming back to the game, communities are not going to suddenly flourish back again if remote raiding is torn apart like this. But people that are playing will continue to decrease time in the game, if not completely avoid playing this game.
2016 is not coming back. 2017 is not coming back. Heck, 2018 IS NOT COMING BACK.
I think Niantic needs to do something that makes in person raiding the clear better choice, remote raid passes are for convenience and should be for nothing else.
Maybe 3 to 5 free raid passes a day or even just boosted shiny odds for in person raids.
Dont get me wrong, as a rural player remote raiders are my only source to get legendarys as often as I do, and this choice make no sense from a business standpoint, but I wholeheartedly agree that the real life community aspect of the game has decayed over time.
Niantic is an augmented reality company not a Pokémon company, they need more AR scans ( from the 5 people who still do them), new post covid infrastructure make for good pokestops but a lack of players to nominate the stop, remember when local buisnesses used to consider a pokestop for advertising, what happened to that time?
It’s so funny how all the YouTubers and other players that don’t work full time can say all of this. I work mon-Friday and sometime Saturday from 5-5pm (yes my job sucks) I don’t wanna go out after a long day at work and do all of this. It’s insane how they make it sound like it’s so easy. Look I don’t use remote a lot anymore but when there’s certain events, I do. Like right now with Rayquaza. There’s also handicapped players who are limited to what they can do. I’m sure remote passes help them feel included in some way that they can’t with in person raids. We get it Brandon you have all the time in the world to go out and enjoy playing. Trust me, I wish I did what you do for a living but a lot of us are not so lucky and barely have enough time for a portion of what you do. And yes I still have Sunday but I’m spending that day with my wife and 4 kids. Not going out to do raids in person even though we all love the game.
So a couple of things with this nerf. First of all it’s a bad nerf to everyone in rural area, people who are impaired physically or have visibility issues. Bad for people who are wanting to raid for example rn Rayquaza. Most people who play this game everyday will do more then 6+ raids a day if they have funds for it. If they’re basing the amount of raids on legendaries thag have been recycled and aren’t interesting then of course you’re going to see 5 or less raids/day. Another thing is increasing the price on something that is a popular item is always going to be negative seen and seen as money hungry. A topic he talks about a lot is that the community should be out and about raiding for everything, which in theory yea it would be cool to meet up with people and make friends. Most people started playing during the pandemic and can most likely guarantee that people have social anxiety and just want to raid in the comfort of their home. Also, one thing he doesn’t take into consideration is most of us have a job and have stuff to do during the week, have kids etc. Most people have 0 to little no time to spare everyday and they want us to take the time to go raid publicly after we done our 6 remote raids. Like if it’s a popular raid boss most people will want to raid a lot more then just 6 a day if they don’t have time to go to the actual gym. What if the situation was backwards? Getting rid of local raid passes on only allowed to do remote raids? People who like to save money would be forced to only use remote passes. Like instead of hurting a popular part of your fan base. Incentivize local passes more. Like instead of it being “a chance for a candy xl” how about 1 guaranteed rare candy xl or my rare candy x2 or x3 to make us go use local passes more. It’s not that hard to make good decisions and as a company I understand they need to make money, which in this case your limiting us on how many we can purchase and increasing the price. It’s a very negative change imo, no matter how you look at it.
They are increasing the cost as well as putting limit on remote raid passes which actually made the game earn much more revenue and allowed more people to join game
You can afford to be blase about remote raiding being nerfed living in a big city with several gyms reachable from your apartment, rural players will just not be able to do raids period. There are no gyms within kilometers of me and only a couple active players . this is a stop playing the game issue for me not an inconvenience.Without remote players.joining raids are impossible not everyone lives in a large city , and not everyone has nice weather all year long frost bite is a harsh reality for real world players in cold climates . Just like the unattainable regional you can never catch SPOOFING will become evermore prevalent as the only option left.
99% of online communities are better than local ones.
I’d rather spent time hanging with my friends on Discord than talk to one single local while raiding.
Hi Brandon. Yeah, a while back on another account I begged for help with a group of spoofers who took over the gyms in the area I live in. You know what was the result of that? The community in this area broke apart and they either quit or play so little they’re not even playing. I’m the only one who still really plays here. During that year and a half those spoofers were active here, yes they did spoof in our area that long, we’ve tried reporting them to Niantic, they did nothing. I’ve asked many for help, including here, never got any solid help, just advice on what on what we were already doing. in July last year they finally stopped, but by then the damage had been done. I’ve tried to talk with the others to come back now that those spoofers stopped, but they just don’t want to anymore. This situation sucks. Niantic doing this with the remote raids suck as well. If Niantic goes through with this and puts a cap on the number of remote raids one can do, players like myself who are in rural players, with few or no other players to help, we’re screwed big time. Some of us don’t have that kind of in person backup anymore. We don’t need this, not at all.
Listen Brandon. The majority of people work and can’t do in person raids becuz they don’t have the time. Others live in rural areas. Nobody has the time like u that your main job is to play Pokémon go. It will kill the profits for Niantic and kill your experience to enjoy in person events once the profits keeps going down. Once the weekend hits, I’ll do more walking outside and enjoy catching and raiding in person but the majority of raiding during the week I do remotely becuz there is no way around it. So just becuz u have the time to play the game more than others becuz your job is to play Pokémon go, doesn’t mean the majority of people have that time. This is a terrible idea and that poll doesn’t speak to a majority of players since it’s only around 5,000 people. Billions of people play this game and I would guarantee the remote raids number would be way higher if u took a better poll than that.
As long as there is spoof app there is nothing to be done
Agree! Niantic has started to change things that really work, and make it harder for free to play players/players who don’t live in the city! They don’t focus on the real issues and that really annoys me!
