The thing is in Australia no one did local raids before remote raids anyways. Remote raids gave me a chance to do 5 star raids
I get what you’re saying. I really do. However, it’s not easy for a lot of people, especially adults who work a lot, have families, or are disabled. Remote raiding was one of the best QOL implementations they’ve ever done. It offers the above people, and rural players, the chance to raid with friends when they can’t meet in person for various reasons.
As for me, I do miss the in person interactions. However, I don’t miss driving to multiple locations, telling people to wait, and wasting so much gas. With gas being as expensive as it is now, I’d rather only use it when I need it. I have enough I need to spend money on anyway. I work a lot, so being able to remote raid with friends has been helpful in ensuring I get a few of any newly released legendaries. Yes, I prefer to use my regular passes, but that’s not always feasible.
And let’s talk about how great it’s been to be able to join raids in other countries. I love having legendaries from other countries that I can trade to people who need help with their pilot badge. And those gyms you raided on are permanent badges on your gym list, which I find fun.
I get that remote raiding goes against Niantic’s “motto”, but at the end of the day, it’s done more good than bad. I’ll definitely be reducing my raid consumption after the new limitations and price hike are introduced. It’s sad, but I’m not too bummed, as I’m a very casual player. But I will miss hopping into raids with my friends, even remotely. I’d love to do so in person, but a lot of us don’t have a lot of free time, unfortunately.
Its beneficial for those who have the physical ability to go out… but I know quite a few people who are incapable of going around… People who were medically unable to leave the hospital and too sick to be outdoors were given the ability to join the pokemon go community online through digital communication. We had a friend who wanted to join the Hoenn tour but due to his health and condition he wasnt able to participate in the event. He was definitely happy to get invited to the Rayquaza raids after the event.
They won’t do this why limit people even at a extra 50 coins each, when they can get upwards of 3000 coins off people a day obviously if there’s something worth raiding.
Many others here have made well reasoned rebuttals to most of this i.e. rural players, people with time restrictions, mobility issues, social anxiety etc, so I won’t go into that.
Just focusing on one comment in the video though – how exactly does limiting remote raids fix the android glitch method? As you describe it, it’s a switch to local passes, so limiting to 6 remotes won’t stop people doing this. In fact it will incentivise it. Sure, so would increasing the benefits of in-person raiding, but that would also encourage those who do a mix of in-person and remotes to come out and play.
Your suggestions at the end about marks to indicate who’s out of passes, or increasing prices as the number of remotes done per day increase, or rolling them over make a lot of sense, and hence why almost certainly niantic won’t do anything of the sort. So many people seem to really believe that Niantic are doing this out of some core philosophy about getting people out to play together. Let’s not be naive. They’re a profit driven company. The only way any of this makes sense is through income from AR and location data.
Niantic should realize that is not about nerfing remote raids, but buffing the other one, in-person raids. I stopped using remote raids once they deleted from weekly boxes for 1 coin, but I really need the help of other trainers that join remotely to take down the 5T or megas raids.
The thing is they should make easier raiding solo without time limit or make more rewards for in-person raiding (like getting more XL and rare candies) or just more candies from the Pokémon that you are raiding (let’s say it’s a guaranteed X2 candy). That would make people want to do more local raids and will also allow people on rural areas to take down raids and be helped for remote raiders too. We’ll see tho, because I have two accounts and I see myself having three accounts to take down top raids…

Must be pretty nice to have your Ivory Tower opinions. You have an existing community and dozens of Gyms within walking distance. So what do you care if rural players have no way to get local friends (or enough to raid with) or that they might only have one Gym total in a conveniently driveable range. “But 6 is enough for them, the numbers say so”. Bull. Who are you (or Niantic) to say that’s enough?
being able to have the days roll over would be better than just limiting to 6 a day. don’t like the price increase though. saying we’re going to limit you and charge you more is just a double negative. unless they give you the chance to get remote raid passes from going to gyms(even if it has to be occupied by your team) and spinning the discs. then that would encourage people to get out more and do gym battles possibly. but as a mid level player, getting enough people to do a raid was hard enough even when hoopa was out, still don’t have one because we never got enough people to raid, me and 3 other people still couldn’t find enough Randoms that would join to finish it. if they don’t do something beneficial for the remote raid passes after double nerfing it, they’re gonna take a big hit. i for one will lose interest being limited to 6 without a rollover system. because its hard enough to find time and energy between work and a baby to go out and play, and hope theres enough people to complete the legendary/mega raids or coordinate with friends and if they cant go then youre probably screwed. then its just a day of disappointments with pokemongo and will push people away.
just to let you know brandon, not everyone likes meeting people in real life. So having to limit remote raids is ridiculous. There’s literally alot of benefits in remote raiding and removing it really doesn’t make any sense. If you like doing local raids then go ahead no one’s stopping you but saying that remote raids totally changed how pokemon go was MEANT to play is kinda stupid. I do like your content but this video was not it.
If they’re going to increase the price of the pass, they should increase how much gold you can get a day from 50 to 100 because it would take 3 days (if you’re lucky) to get 1 remote raid pass.
This actually makes sense, they will probably make it more expensive to remote raid. There will be more expensive remote raid passes now! Niantic sucks! Quiting if this happens!
Niantic : Let’s make the game more fun. -make it harder to play the game and then raise the price, they should be happy.
Me : it was nice knowing you.
Respect your honest opinion on this. For myself, community can be built up from a spectrum of people, people who enjoyed interacting with strangers or those who enjoyed the game casually and just wanted to raid remotely without having to go out to the wilderness😂/without active communities in their areas. Maybe your feedbacks received are skewed as it is mostly from communities leader who probably enjoyed interacting and raiding physically.
Possible solution for a win-win is incentives physical raid and do something to ban spoofers (if possible). As a casual player, i do agree on your take to do limits for remote raids and the passes shouldn’t be increased to 150.
I am good with some remote passes as I don’t do but a few remote raids every few weeks. It is way better, for me, than before. I used to try to join raids back in 2017 & 18. What a fiasco. Totally gave up because no one would wait for me. It would take me 30 minutes to get to these raids. The folks would raid and be gone. Pissed me off to no end. Thus, I quit raiding and did not get any legendaries. Until remote raids became available.
And! I work a full time job and take care of my 93 year old mother! So yes please on the remote raids.
I did raid hour yesterday with some other trainers.
To be honest without the remote raid i could not have certain pokemon.
Sori to ask here, for trading 2016 pokemons for easier to get lucky pokemons is both using 2016 or either one party 2016 will do?
I know your point but.. as u said, not all people have the same posibbilities, you know what happen to me back in 2017 when i wanted to do raids? there was NO PEOPLE aroun to play with, I reached lvl 30 with only 4 or 5 legendary pokemon.. Now I`m level 50 so am i gonna have to go back to those times when I couldn catch a single Legendary pokemon? not nice at all
I hope Niantic fixed the bugs and other glitches first before doing this kind of thing… limit the remote raid passes. I can understand if its like 20-50/day limit. but only 6? the shiny rate for shiny legendary is like 1/20. so how people will hunt and grind hard for that specific pokemon especially on rural places. I hope Niantic should focus the problem of the game first rather doing this kind of thing.
People are using local passes to do remote raids… Solution –> punish the whole community. Niantic at its finest!
It’s a shame one the most enjoyable games I’ve ever played is managed by a horrible company. I wish I wouldn’t like it so much, so it would be easier to just quit.
You mention a few times that “people are just staying at home and remote raiding instead of going to the raid locations”, making it sound like people are too lazy to go to there. I’m really sorry, but some people (that really enjoy playing the game) also have a life outside of Pokemon GO. Not everyone gets up in the morning with PoGo, plays PoGo all day and goes to sleep with PoGo. There are a lot of (I’m pretty sure the vast majority) people that just enjoy to casually play the game.
I personally don’t remote raid as much (on average 1 pass a day when there are actually good raid bosses), but I do rely on remote raiders to be able to do local raid bosses.
I have found a (small) local community, but I don’t want to be begging people to please, please, PLEASE, pretty please, go and do a a raid with me cause I still haven’t been able to use my daily free pass today
