I get what you are saying- but you seem to be coming from the position of someone who lives in a city, has few work limitations on your raiding time & has a bunch of gyms & more importantly people around you to join raids with- that is a privilege not every player has. Besides remote raiding doesn’t inherently limit in person raiding at all, it simply empowers those who otherwise couldn’t raid, to seek out & join a PoGo community in order to raid at all.
All nurfing remote raids will result in doing is handicapping & excluding every single genuine player that so happens to live in remote & rural areas, or have a medical condition/s that limit their ability to move freely in public, or has to work long or awkward hours or away from their local community (ie. shift work & oil rig workers) from being able to raid.
I understand you want more people to raid in person- I do too, but would you expect someone to drive or fly hours just to do a hour or 2 of raiding with you? What if they have to work or are a solo parent or caregiver, do you expect them to take the day off just to raid in person? What if they have a medical condition & can’t physically get close enough to certain gyms in their area to use premium passes? I don’t mean to sound harsh, but that is the reality for many players around the globe & the ability to remote raid has opened up the game & allowed whole communities to develop & thrive as a result- severely limit remote raiding & those communities & players are likely to suffer & eventually dwindle away as frustrated & disappointed players quit.
I fully understand that remote raids can be abused, but lets be real, so can many other parts of the game as you yourself know, so where is the line drawn? Pokemon go is supposed to be about “exploration, exercise & social interaction”.
Remote raiding fulfils 2 of those criteria- whole online communities now exist that don’t just contain local players or even just players from a single country, they contain a global population where people meet, engaged with each other, form friendships & learn about other places & cultures- so both wins for the mission statement & the other (exercise) is subjective based on your physical health & medical conditions, yet still entirely possible to do even if you raid from home- you do what is safe & for some that is nothing, for others that is mobility devices, for the rest we can use exercise equipment (treadmill etc.) or walking on the spot or around the living area/ outside etc.
The bottom line without beating around the bush is this:
If Niantic do nurf remote raiding with increased prices, even lower damage output than there is already & a single digit daily limit, the message they send is basically thus- if you do not live in a “safe” city or township, do not work 9-5, do have dependents or do have a medical or health condition that limits your ability to raid in public safely, you are not worthy of playing Pokemon Go. If you want to try to play anyway, you will be forcibly handicapped via expensive, limited & nurfed remote raids. The end.
There’s better ways to doing this and niantic is FAILING. All I see is greed and especially during a time when new covid variants are coming out. Why do this? You want people sick or dead niantic?.. That’s costumers lost
Niantic.. it’s NOT as simple as moving to a city to do raids. THINK about this.. you need us, and in all reality, we don’t need you. We want to play the game, but that’s all it is. A want, not a need. I’ve quit this game once back in 2016, and I’m fine doing it again.
Congratulations dipshit, these were all your suggestions and now its going to kill the game.
I think this change is healthy for the game
@Brandon Tan how do I become a Patreon for you?
it would be nice to instead of taking things away they added more content to give people a reason to go out and play, perfect example being the daily incense. also 4 star raids being in person events only, things like these are good, do more of this, stop taking away content. One more thing id like to add that I have seen people mention is that this is taking into account that you have the ability to find raids in your area, if they want to limit the number of raids a day then they need to increase the ability to make pokestops/gyms, some people just dont have places to go to raid and your limiting their access to play with this update, its heavily weighed to people that play in bigger city areas or have an established areas in the game with countless gyms and communities to play in. its just not a good idea
In my experience, remote raid passes have only hurt my semi-large community more than helped, especially in a post pandemic world. They hog up the 20 pax raid lobby from actual local players and use up the 10 remote raider limit from my friend invites. Just my experience, seems like I’m the only one facing this issue tho.
Yeah no, my area is completely dead with raids and I’m not spending the gas just to go get a raid. Remote raids are a godsend.
nice analysis of both sides
his opinion is so narrowed minded and one sided. he is only thinking about this from a full time pokémon go player side and not a regular person with a full time job and family side. i work from 8am to 5pm, i then go home eat, do anything that needs to be done at home, go to the gym and relax a little bit and by that point raids are over. so at what point in my regular day do i have time to go out and play? he needs to be more realistic about who the majority of the community that plays this game is. it’s not a bunch of full time players that have all day to play and go gym to gym, it’s adults with full time jobs that have literals minutes a day to play. bffr
honestly i dont think they will do it becuse its making them to much money. They are a business
You have a very skewed/biased take on this. Very inconsiderate of those who can’t do this full time and get paid to play Pokémon like yourself. Super easy to have your opinion when your only responsibility IS Pokémon. Where as the VAST MAJORITY of players. This is probably 5th on their list of priorities. You come off as a shill in the video to be honest.
Really disappointed in your take on this. You’re coming from a place of extreme privilege and not giving any consideration to the MAJORITY of players who can’t realistically get out a meet for raids. We all aren’t lucky enough to make hundreds of thousands a year off playing Pokémon. You claim you aren’t a paid niantic shill. And then make a video like this. 🤦🏻♂️
You’re either naive or intentionally disingenuous if you think this is for a good cause. So easy to say coming from someone who’s full time job is Pokémon. Maybe have consideration for ya know. The every day person who has a family and actually has to GO to work.
Yeah….you’re not paid by Niantic. Okay! 👌🏼 I definitely trust your opinion now 🤦🏻♂️
I am neutral about this. Except that most people don’t live in the tropics. When it’s extremely cold or very hot outside, who wants to raid in – in person gyms? Negative temperatures and extremely hot weather conditions is very bad. Niantic is definitely not considerate about the community that they serve. Plus, your friends will struggle to invite their remote ones to raids. Not a good decision imho. Although Niantic does what it does all the time. Doesn’t inform us ahead of time. We have to find out about it by being leaked.
To say you’re “out of touch” with your “fans” would be an understatement. Must be nice to be so privileged
I’d love for you to leave your city and go live rural for a year. No YouTube for a job. And a 9 to 5 job. It didn’t make it “convenient” to not go to in person raids. It gave thousands upon thousands a chance to actually raid for Pokémon they’d never have a chance to get. There’s gonna be that divide again but on a smaller scale. Before remote raids were a thing rural players were playing Pokémon Go 80% while big city players were playing Pokémon Go 100%
The fact you are so out of touch with reality and what REGULAR people is infuriating and honestly just makes me want to unsubscribe. This exposes you as a niantic shill. And it’s probably one of the worst takes I’ve heard from the Pokémon community. You’re extremely extremely out of touch with REGULAR people.
