Brandon, your position in the PoGo community and your local community provides you the luxury of a network of people to call on to raid in person. We don’t all have that luxury. I play every day, some days from home/office, some from outside. I can’t remember the last time I raided with another trainer in person even when I physically attend a gym. In that way I agree that remote raids have likely played a part in that. But long before remote raids were a thing I frequently was unable to find trainers IRL to raid with. The difference now is that that is no longer a problem.
En-route to or from work or while in the office I don’t have the luxury of time to deviate 800m out of my normal route or away from my desk to complete a 5-star raid in person, especially if once I arrive and find no one else there. I am yet to be given access to Campfire to coordinate with other trainers, so that can’t help either (and what the hell is with the Campfire rollout?! Is it even a thing anymore. It’s been very quiet on that front for a LONG time).
I think I’ve used 1 free daily pass to raid with since the start of the year, thanks to a combination of poor timing arriving at raids, and reluctance to waste a pass on a 1 or 3 star raids, preferring legendary or mega raids. I don’t know if you have children, but I do, and mine typically need feeding during raid and spotlight hours or have homework I need to help with once I get home from the office. I am not a full-time content creator who can determine how every aspect of my time is spent, I have other commitments for which PoGo is a welcome escape and remote passes have helped immensely with that. I’m not sure you represent the community in this regard Brandon.
Removing remote passes or limiting them will also effect the people like me who are disabled and might not be able to get out due to weather or health reasons. Accessibility isn’t a concern at all for Niantic or Pokémon. Which is very sad. Lots of people will stop playing and less people will spend money now. I’ve definitely cut down on remote passes
They’re gonna make the change trying to force people to go out and play, yet after all these people who remote raid leave its still gonna be empty at gyms and nost communities. Most people are remote raiding because they don’t want to/can’t do in person raids. Twisting their arm with a limit isn’t gonna change their view on it.
I’m 50/50 on it.. got me i dont remote raid that much, but also understand those that live in rural areas or can’t go out.. i live in a city so finding raids isn’t that hard for me.. its mostly hard to find ppl cause of remote raids caused.. so i agree double edge sword.
for me its the 150 coins
I think stack up remote raids not used is a great idea
Yayyyyyyyyyy……finally they are removing it. So happy.
This will really be awful. It’s hard enough living in a rural area where I only have two PokeStops and one gym within driving (I use a golf cart in my area) distance. I hardly ever get to raid as it is.
Brandon, I respect your views on the Pokémon changes but I don’t agree. Some people have family obligations and can’t get out to play in the raids or other factors which people can’t get out. Having the remote raids makes it more accessible for people to play the game that can’t get out on a daily basis. Players want to play the game, that best fits them and not be restricted and forced to play in a way that doesn’t benefit the player. All players should have an option on how they want to play the game.
Increasing the price is probably the most bs part of it
I like the idea because I miss people going to raids
It would be so stupid on their part. THEY MAKE SO MUCH MONEY ON THOSE PASSES!!!!! For someone who has a full time job and no time to go walk around a town and do in person raids i am angered!!!!!!!!!! This isn’t fair. People have actual jobs and don’t have time for in person raids. I work 12-10 every. single. day. The raids are gone when I get out. I will definitely retire if this actually becomes a thing.
The only problem I see is for me no one near me plays anymore even if I see a raid and I want to remote it there is always 0 players
I think a stranger stupid because I don’t have enough local people to do a raid with or enough gyms in my area. And my girlfriend can’t always get out and go and raid in person and if you can’t message people in Pokémon go do in person raids then this won’t work
Brandon, you play this game full time in an area with hundreds of stops and gyms. On top of having unlimited funds. it’s not fair for you to have a perspective on this.
The majority of people work full time, have kids, and obligations and live in an area with 1 gym IF that. Remote raiding is the only accessible way for us to do any raids at all.
Adding on to that- this ONLY hurts the players who play LEGIT and spend money.
In a game where I have to raid 50-100 of a legendary just get ONE to level 50, nerfing remote raiding is the worst idea I have ever heard.
Hi Brandon! Shoutout from Hougang, SG. Its inevitable that Niantic will limit or totally remove the remote raid as i believe they would like the players to walk and travel around physically as covid19 is no longer a threat. On the downside, i feel many people will be disheartened with the news but i dont think there will be many who is gonna to quit the game totally. Cheers guys!!
People just want to remote raid at home. Social anxiety is real man, some people cannot handle being out in public.
Gonna just find another game to play that simple I live in queens nyc and don’t have anyone raising locally so imagine other places f this company
As a community leader myself you really speak out what I was thinking the whole time since remote raids were introduced. During pandamic I used the free remote passes locally because I wantend to play with others. Remote raids killed my community so much. I try to motivate them with information/news/tips but it just doesn’t help. So sad and really starts to kill my motivation more and more.
Thank you, for explaing that.
