i did not cry when the old lady gave the flower crown for Ana in FGO, but when it was animated it crushed my heart so much. I guess how much i was broken after finishing babylonia, this song fits all

I like this song. At first I didn’t like gilgamesh that much, he was always just this badass character to me and we never really saw any depth into his character. But he grew on me when learning and going into his past. When Fate Babylonia came out, he grew on me even more and he became one of my favorite fate characters. I really like his backstory because he used to be an arrogant king who oppressed his people. The gods used gilgamesh as a keystone to rule over humans, to make sure they still worshipped them because they are unable to manifest a physical form after safar reigned on earth. However gilgamesh being 2/3rds God and 1/3 human believed that even he was a higher status than even the gods that he was supposed to obey because he was able to see life from the prospective of the gods and humans. He ruled over Uruk but was an oppressive tyrant who forced his people into labor and sexual abuse. Gilgamesh accepted the role of observing humanity but did so on his own terms. He hate the gods but at the same time thought of humans as nothing but fodder and needed them to hate him. This way he can truly observe and be this neutral entity that cna truly judge. In a way gilgamesh was rejecting the gods and also fulfilling his mission that the gods gave him. However, the gods made molded some clay which turns out to be enkidu to punish gilgamesh. Before enkidu set out kill gilgamesh, before attempting he waited and watched him grow and waited till he himself had more wisdom. Enkidu watched gilgamesh as he grew from an innocent child to a tyrant and oppressive dictator. When he gained enough wisdom and reason, he confronted gilgamesh and the two fought as equals. Gilgamesh could have finished him off but didn’t because he wanted enkidu to be by his side. The two became friends. After that King Gilgamesh ruled over his people with better manner. Gilgamesh traveled the world collecting almost all the treasures. The goddess ishtar knew of this and proposed a marriage with gilgamesh but he refused. One of gilgameshes missions from the gods were to Marry a goddess. Gilgamesh didn’t want to marry her because he knew of her past with men. Gilgamesh denying her marriage is like cutting off their connection with the gods, basically saying that humanity doesn’t need the gods. The Goddess ishtar was enraged and asked her father to release the divine bull of heaven which is their strongest divine beast. The beast reined terror on earth for 7 years before gilgamesh and enkidu were able to finish it off. After this, ishtar was enraged even more and begged the gods to sentence then both to death. The gods were able to enforce this but not to gilgamesh. Enkidu slowly went back to the clay he was originally. This made gilgamesh grief and hate ishtar but the only reason why he can stand her in Babylonia is because of Rins personality is mixed with hers. After enkidu’s death gill ruled his people better. Gilgamesh had an ability to see into the future. He knew that his kingdom will fall eventually, and he will eventually fall victim to the very thing that Enkidu, and the people that followed him. Death. He decided to go and claim the last treasure to his gate of Babylon. It was a plant which granted immortality. Gilgamesh believed by attaining immortality, it would be like avenging enkidu’s life. gilgamesh found it but after doing so he went to go clean himself after a long journey. However it was snatched away by a snake. Gilgamesh wasn’t even mad, he just laughed it off. It was here he learned the importance of life. Of course he went back and got some more but not to gain immortality, but to complete his gate of Babylon, achieving all treasures. Gilgamesh went back to his kingdom and that is the caster gilgamesh we see now. Gilgamesh wants to see through the end of humanity but chose not to because death was a part of the very world he was meant to observe. He believed dying wasn’t abandoning his role, but actually completing it. With his eyes he can gaze into the future and he saw what he adored most about humanity, they were always fodder to him, but he believed what they made had their values. He is always intrigued from the constant expansion of their knowledge and technology. The caster gilgamesh we see lent his people his weapons, swords, spears, etc. He put them into cannons that can be shot because of the three alliance were attacking. He was more lenient with his treasures, and that is why in fate babylonia we didn’t see him use a single weapon besides magical staffs. He gave his weapons to the people to ensure their safety. Also gilgamesh kept enkidu as a his one and only friend because it would lose the importance of enkidu. Enkidu wanted gilgamesh to think that he was like one of his treasures in his gate of babylon but gilgamesh thought of enkidu as more.

I really like gilgamesh because even knowing that people will fall before him, his treasures are all he has that will stay with him. He could never think of enkidu as a treasure. This song really shows what gilgamesh wants (“I am the prover”), he wants to prove that humanity can survive even without the help of the gods.
