You know… She’s a good player and all, but the song didn’t need to become any cheesier. Roy Hargrove nailed it when it was written and recorded the first time. I feel like they poured parmesian, provel, and cheddar all over this masterpiece and tried to call it a pizza. They forgot the sauce and the crust.

your a genious, like really smart. i personally prefer the melody swung, it makes the song smooth yet funky at the same time, sounds rad, and im pretty sure they were going for that sound, otherwise why would they do that??

Well obviously you have two very different styles of bands playing a piece of music here. The Roy Hargrove Quintet mastered it in their style, which I can not put into words when I heard it, but I also think that Candice and Jan Van Duikeren on the Flugelhorn did a magnificent job with the piece also, everyone knows that has ever played, knows that, that particular instrument is not easy to play so I think they did a good job
