I just finished your second episode, so well timed 🙂 Thanks for all your great content.
You’re using warehouses the way we used them in Railway Empire 1. I think if they are built at stations that you already have in cities, they will be a lot more efficient. That way no trains ever need to cross through cities.
I think when starting it might be more efficient to make every other station a warehouse stocking the basics (grain, corn, beer, etc).
Then have intercity lines going between the two and stopping at the middle station. That way all stations have a supply of the basics and they will move it along the network automatically.
If you optimised the express lines to run between the none freight cities you could specialise those stations with restaurants to increase revenue.
I’d love for to do a deep dive into supply and demand. I love the game, but I’m lost as to how read what a city needs, and what they want to get rid of.
Ola! 🌟💗
Looks like you need a New York bypass.
Dont think im going to learn owt here you seem to be second guessing everything and unsure what you’re doing and keep going off point. Not having a go just an observation/tip
By supplying your competitor’s cities, aren’t you increasing his profit and company value? Seems like you should focus on buying him out first in order to take over his infrastructure. OK, I stand corrected after watching til the end… clever banking FTW.
I was looking forward to watching you design the New York connection to the rest of the network…
How did you change the name of the stations? I am not finding an option to
Good video but you’re talking to fast and so many information in one second. Thank you 👍🏻
It’s just not right building 4 railways side by side for thousands of kilometers. :p
Would it be better to have the 4 lines ordered in express, freight, freight, express? Freight goes everywhere, so therefore in the middle, you had more freight junctions so the freight T-junction would then not interfere with one express line and you don’t have to think about up/down. 4line T-junction are also easier to build
I love your content. Your videos are informative as well as chaotic!
Loving this game. I’m on mission 4, I should make some videos of it! Though I’m on Xbox
Wool bushes?.
Hi Nilaus
Slightly disagree with your recommendations and conclusions – nevertheless many thanks for highlighting the sequel of railway empire 🙂 have since spent around 60 hours ingame, what a great treat for whit sunday and monday 🙂
corrigendum on Warehouse: Goods stored in a warehouse are used to make them available for other routes to pick up. It is absolutely not required for goods produced in the city itself!
Now some of my tips:
1. start: you can quit/enter your game in case you don’t like the objectives. Objectives are only regenerated when starting a game from the main menu. It is different with the bonuses for connecting, these are also regenerated when you just restart the map. It is very helpful to have a plan in the beginning and reroll for optimal bonuses to get these additional fundings. 1.5-2.0 millions is huge in the beginning and it helps you to create a bigger network from the start.
2. main lines: build a network that connects 3+ cities. make sure that you have all 3 basic goods produced along the main line. In the beginning, operate with mixed deliveries. for the first main line, I recommend to have 4 cities to start and a 5th as an extension as soon as you have collected all your initial bonuses. Put as many trains on the line as you have stops. so if you have 5 cities on the line, this results in 8 stops and therefore 8 trains. in later phases, you build 2 additional tracks to separate express from cargo on the main line.
3. build your cities: in cities, make sure to have maintenance depots and – if you have goods shipped into town that are used also for other cities – warehouses. I recommend to build the 2nd city production building by yourself. So you can balance the availability of higher end goods in your main line centric network.
4. connect all goods surrounding a city: Yes, just bring it all into a city, the warehouse will be required to share it within the main line network. in the beginning, don’t connect goods you don’t need.
5. build wide as fast as you can: although a small railway empire with just 1 main line and 5 cities can be sufficient, if you really want to outperform your opponents, build wide. As soon as you have established a main line, go for the next one.
I started in sioux falls, my first main line was Omaha – Sioux Falls – Minneapolis – Rochester and extended to Topeka within first month. Second main line started afterwards, connecting Wichita – Topeka – Kansas City – Columbus – St.Louis (and some years later extended to Nashville). I hadn’t completed second line when first line required some attention to create 2nd industry. 3rd and 4th main line were Des Moines – Omaha – North Plate – Denver and Sioux Falls – Pierre – Rapid City – Casper. After this point in time, all goods connected to the cities, express and cargo separated, warehouses in place, I was at above 1m income per month, and game was in january 1833.
Although just an example – which can easily be reproduced – it clearly proves some of the essentials: It is imperative to extend your empire instead of optimizing it. optimizing helps in growing your cities, but extension gives you a huge boost to your balance sheet.
Click the (i) information button top left. Turn on train utilization. It color codes the trains green, yellow or red compared to their utilization. Great way to see trains instead of white on white. I wish you could color code trains individually (yes, I know you can paint them, but I’m talking about a high bird eye view)
How did you change the name of Stations ? The icon doesnt appear to rename
Playing just now, and I got the three wheat connection immediately, where my last play through I did not. Came back to your video. They added a wheat station by buffalo. So now there’s two next to each other with corn.
