Your points are valid, but… stray is closer to a walking sim than an adventure or platformer game… not sure why having complex platforming, complex systems, tons or replayablity or complicated and huge levels is relevant. I guess if you compare it to any AAA game it’s boring and “mindless”. But stray is a game to relax, play once, enjoy the experience and move to the next thing. Nothing more or nothing less. Yes the price is a bit high, but that is why we have sales on steam
Counterpoint you get to play as a adorable kitty
finally someone said it
I bought it and have zero regrets
Its a game that ive waited years for and enjoyed it a ton, i want to support creators and if they make money on smt the more likeley there will come more like it
but buy ubisoft games gg man
Yeah I think this is a bad take. Some people want exactly THIS. my girlfriend loves this shit lol
I think this is one of the first one of your videos i have to disagree with. I think your main gripe is the 30 dollar price point, but even though it is very did from the games you are used to criticizing it is still very high quality for an indie team with a passionate idea
Some folks pay 30 bucks to have Uber eats bring them a chicken sandwich.
what? you are making this youtube video literally trying to make money for yourself, but you are telling others not to spend money on the game. It’s okay to not like this game but telling people not to buy a game is another level nowadays.
The problem is not so much Stray at 30€ but more gigantic AAA at 60/80€. The comparison is really not good for little game.
Edit: After watching this in it’s entirety it’s clear you just missed the point with the game, but that’s okay.
It’s literally the only game I’ve ever preordered and played at moment of release. $30 nah, I didn’t pay that and wouldn’t expect others to, but $15 to $20 is more than fair.
Not every game is about difficulty and using your brain, sometimes you just want to chill and go brain dead and hit the meow button.
I respect your opinion but whole heartedly disagree with it.
In the sea of copy and pasted open worlds and predatory live service games, finally a studio delivers an imaginative and novel game that is unique and interesting and you tell people not to buy it? We have to reward small developers for delivering a solid experience. We have to put our money were our mouth is and tell the rest of the industry that this is what we want. A game that was made with an artistic passion, a game that has a soul.
While I agree with you, including your almost final words. I think you have missed (and lots of other reviewers) one important point – It is not a classic “narrative” game, it’s a cat walking simulator. You do not need a challenge – cats can’t misstep 🙂 – what you want to see is a world from cats perspective. That is the point of view you need to look at this game. The point of view of crazy cat lady. Not a seasoned gamer. 🙂
luke you make a lot of good content but this is possibly the dumbest take i have ever seen from you.
just because a game is linear doesnt mean its not worth your money. by that logic you shouldnt pay for LIMBO or Half-Life or Titanfall or Metro 2033. linear games are fine if its the intent of the devs
i feel like critiquing this game for it’s lack of “gameplay systems” or whatever else is missing the point entirely, it’s about just going along with the ride, just vibing along with the cat for a mostly light-hearted relaxing time being emersed in this strange new world, it’s not out to really challenge you.
it’s like critiquing Journey for it’s lack of challenging gameplay when it’s very clear that’s not what it’s trying to do.
this is an oversimplification but this is what I hear… Game too easy therefore don’t buy it
casual experiences need more respect
I will bay it to support 🥹
I prefer to actually support developers, especially those who don’t make triple a games.
I’ll dislike this video simply because it seems like you’re trying to sabotage developers. I understand saying that game is not worth the price, but saying something like “It’s ok, but you shouldn’t pay for it” is bs.
