Not everything needs to be Elden Ring, some games are meant to be relaxing and chill. There’s plenty of care and love poured into this game, don’t really see your point.
Probably your worst video ever btw, saying to gamers that they shouldn’t pay for an indie game is extremely shitty and sits wrong with me.
Luke, please think through these takes before you post them. All these recent videos give off a kinda petty vibe, using your videos to uplift games and built community’s behind them is your strong suit, ragging on a game with entirely subjective criticisms really doesn’t go over well.
Yes. Go and buy other soulless, cash grab, run of the mill AAAs instead, and lining up those suits pocket, because those are the ones deserve the most support…
Little late now my dude to ask people to not pay for it.
This looks like a boring-ass asset flip of a game which I wouldn’t touch with a bargepole. Reading the butthurt comments of people unsubbing coz youtuber didn’t like their cat game designed for kids and cat-degenerates is pretty amusing though 😅
I took it pretty slow so I finished in 6 hours. I imagine most will finish it in 4. I feel like £25 is fair keeping in mind AAA “Full Length” games are going up to £60-£70.
I can’t disagree more with your statement regarding the experience being the same if you play the game or if you watch a streamer. That’s just denying what an interactive videogame is. Experiencing the game (any game, for that matter) is 100% better (and different) than watching someone else play it. And Stray isn’t different.
I find myself agreeing with you and disagreeing at the same time. Now I haven’t played Stray itself, but I did play games like Stanley Parable which I feel is an appropriate comparison for this kind of game. On a whole, Stray borders on ‘Walking simulator’ territory, only avoiding the label with the bare amount of stealth, puzzles, and action set pieces. That said, its also fair to say that Stray is simply an advancement of the genre, doing for it what games like Mario 64 did for platformers or FF7 did for RPGs. Stray is just the type of game that tells the story it wants to, and with enough mechanics to allow people to be engaged with it.
It’s not challenging, because its not meant to be.
It’s not complex, because its not meant to be.
It’s not even really a game, its more an interactive story.
It’s an experience. One that does what it needs to engage and endear to its audience. You play it once, in a chill session and then never touch it again until maybe a year or two later when most of the game is forgotten and you can enjoy it somewhat fresh again.
Personally, I got my fill of that from Stanley Parable. And with how tight money is for me, I need my games to have a longer shelf life before I put them down for awhile. Either by being a long game, or having good replay-value. So Stray isn’t for me. At least not now.
For a YouTube gaming content creator you can sometimes be blind. I think the creators did a fantastic job creating this game. I think this was their first game. As gamers we should support developers that have this type of love and passion for their games. I believe that if you didn’t play as a cat this game would be no where near as popular. The gameplay is basic as hell but the developers did a fantastic job with the environment and graphics of the world. Your videos could have an impact on people feeding their families so you saying not to buy it is disrespectful in my opinion.
Is it on like one of those PlayStation Plus premium tiers? Cuz I don’t see it for free with just regular PS Plus
Either way. It’s an awesome game
That’s indeed overpriced
And that’s coming from a cat lover
Worth every penny in my opinion. Playing without the HUD on is the way to go if you want to fully experience the environment and increase playtime since it’s not always obvious what you need to do.
Sometimes you really have some of the worst viewpoints in the gaming community.
Why are people suddenly concerned about the difficulty or price when I didn’t hear the same thing about games like Journey, ABZU, Flower, or ICO?
I can safely say I enjoyed the 11h spent on Stray more than the 150h I wasted on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
So your saying don’t support independent developers who make a fantastic original piece of work
Sure the game is short but is full of charm and at a $30 price tag I think it was money well spent.
Love your vids as allways, but i think youre criticism is superfluous here, I think the entire point of the game is to be a small experience where you get to have a fun little simulation as a cat, without being one of those “firefighter simulator” kinda games, but its hard to put that together being a cat, they’ve managed a setting and put a story together out of being a cat, the point i feels to be halfway between an ambient walking simulator where youre taking in the scenery and having a fun amble about as a cat, and being abit ofna film with a story,i dont want to amble about as a cat for 50 hours, it ended by the time i was happily done with it and satisfied, it didnt need much thought, it had more thought put to it than was probably needed! So the jumping and mindless walking is only if youre not just bobbing around as a cat, same way as when you drive like a normal human on GTA. The game did what it set out to do and wasnt really trying to be some super fun to play game, i didnt even felt like i needed a jump button, you can pretty much jump on everything anything, you can get off a roof top very quickly aswell.
Had this been a bigger game, id agree with basically everything you said gameplay wise, id say buy this game on a heavily reduced sale, of free from playstation pass.
Regarless interesting to see how you approached playing something like this!
And entirely respect your opinion i do 😊
However id never pay 30 for so thats fairs, id happily pay 9.99 for it,
Nah, I definitely want to buy this game. I want to pay people money for making this game and for my opportunity to play it.
“Everyone disliked that”
Damn, I usually support a lot of your opinions but I just don’t agree at all. All the other comments cover a lot of good points, but also, how about we support indie developers who are making stand-alone games without loot boxes and cash grabs, or based off of some existing IP they want to exploit? Why not buy their game if you enjoy it, telling other companies this sort of thing can still sell, instead of taking the cheap and lazy way out?
