Finally someone said it. Preach it brother.
I think the thumbnail bothers me a little. It is something different and should be be supported in some way.
Most here in the comments section have already said what I felt about Stray in general, so instead I am wondering if you were interested in talking about ICO/Shadow of the Colossus/The Last Guardian? Either all of them or just pick one; I’m very interested in knowing what you think of them. Also, I’d love a video about Yong Yea. Let us know, tell us, what’s the dealyo.
Maybe one day a game will satisfy your rigorous unrealistic bullshit standards. I highly doubt it though.
The developers deserve a pat on the back, but not my money? Don’t get it
I fast forwarded through your in video add for revenue because it wasn’t worth my time because it was really mindless.
Negative opinion of cute cat game? Opinion rejected
Gotta disagree. I got 9 hours of quality gaming time, excitement and visual inspiration from Stray. That’s admittedly a bit short for my standards (i’m used to 60-100 hour games), but i think it’s well worth the 30$. And it ran extremely well @4k/DX11 on my RTX 3080, most of the time on 60fps synced – no wonder, it’s Unreal Engine 4! And it’s one of the most beautiful games i’ve played in the last couple of years – again, Unreal Engine 4 (kind of a rarity these days, sadly).
I’d say it’s on you if you rush through the game. The developers have put so much work and love into these highly detailed and immersively lit environments, and you don’t stop to take it in, look around, explore? I can only shake my head at this.
Pretty low shot if you ask me, you ask for patron support to get these videos out faster and of better quality I think an indie company has the right to ask for a little bit of money for something that’s new, looks good, is fun and is decently polished.
Man out here always posting the worst of hot takes.
Respect the honesty tho
I liked it. I think $30 is a fair price for a 4-8 hour game. The visuals are amazing. The story is pretty good although I don’t think they wrapped it up very well. But there was a lot of exploration and hidden things.
I think it’s a solid 7.5/10 experience.
The dumbest fucking take on the internet. You buy the game to support the small dev team so they can build more like this in the future.
I’d rather give this developer $60 dollars than any other Ubisoft game you pedal.
Unbelievable. Doing the right thing is always the right thing.
idk man. kind of a bad take, this is a game where i absolutely reccomend buying it. these devs knew what game they wanted to make and they made it. and it’s beautful, i would definetly support their art by buying it
3-5 hours? Hmm. 30$? Hmm. No sir, I dont like it
I was a bit suspicious of this game, since it would be quite difficult to implement playing as a cat, and all the videos just show the cat walking around and not actually doing much. It just sounds like another game that looks cool, but isn’t much of a game. I don’t really agree with that “Cost of a movie” argument for saying short games are still worth the money. A movie is cheap compared to a steakhouse or many sporting events or concerts. It doesn’t mean the movie, particularly with the $9 drink or $10 popcorn, is good value. Likewise, a concert is cheap compared to going to a spa, flying to a resort, engaging the services of a high quality escort – but paying $120 to go see a guy sing, and risking him not showing up, is not necessarily worth the money. Hell, I could watch everything on my streaming service over the course of several months, but that does not make it better value than a video game. My point is, many other video games are criticized for being too short, or having no replayability, or having limited player agency and I don’t see why anyone should excuse a game just because you play as a cat. By which I mean, good video, but even with more gameplay I’m not paying $10+ for this.
I wasn’t with Luke on his Horizon FW assessment, but I agree with him here, after finishing the game. However I’ll say one thing. Saying “Don’t buy it” is a bit rigid. It should be along the lines of “Wait for a sale”, which I think you all should do if you haven’t played it. It’s a chill time worth experiencing, but I honestly can’t see how the current full price tag is justified.
It’s a good relaxing game ? It’s free on play station extra
Annapurna is the A24 of the game industry. Support your indie developers/filmmakers.
Honestly this kinda sums up my opinion on the game. Solid 7/10, enjoyed the experience, if it was longer it would have bored me to pieces. I’m really happy I was able to get Extra for the cost of the game and have access to all kinds of other games too, because it was a very one note experience. The only real difference in my experience is that I stretched it over multiple 1 hour sessions in the evening rather than binging it all at once. Glad I played it, glad that it resonates more with other people, hope the studio is successful in future endeavors, but mostly glad I didn’t use my budget for the month on just it.
To me the game was fine. Not good, not bad, just fine. The only thing remotely special about it was the ability to play as a cat. The gameplay and puzzles were super basic, and of you weren’t a cat I don’t think anyone would be talking about it. Im glad I was able to play it without paying full price. It just wasn’t for me.
