I swear disagreeing with this guys opinion is something the entire comment section can agree on.
saw this thumbnail and went and bought the game
I dont care about getting it for free i got to support the people who made the beautiful game that almost made me cry(i friggin love cats and ive only died once because i didnt think the cat would get mutilated
Support the devs and buy this amazing game!
It seems that most people disagree with your opinion and i do too because so what if you call it “brainless gameplay” it’s a got a good story and i dont think it would be the same if i just watch jacksepticeye because of the small little things you can do like make a poncho for some random robot, bring sheet music to a lady so she can play a song, distract a robot making him drop paint,or even trip some random robot. I would like to say money well spent because if thirty dollars means i support the business that can make more games similar down the road, its definitely worth it
Wow, everyone in the comments really acting like putting $30 down ain’t that big of a deal, when your someone that can’t get many games and you’d want a game to last you a while, don’t buy stray.
Thank you! Someone who doesn’t lick Stray’s balls for once. It’s a boring game, where main character model and animations are worse than lifeless robots. It was so engaging that I went to play Diablo II instead.
Plus there is only one ending so there’s really no replay value or reason to focus on the “side quests” fun to watch though i enjoyed the stream
I’d recommend to wait some time and then buy it at a lower price, it doesn’t help small indie developers if you play their games for free
You know, Luke, it’s really starting to feel like you’re taking yourself far too seriously as a critic. You’re starting to view games through a series of criteria to check off instead of contextualising them within the parameters of what they actually set out to do. It’s making you myopic and your opinions lack substance.
I felt like things were going in a weird direction when you made your Odyssey video, and they’ve gotten weirder since then. You’ve taken to defending Assassin’s Creed, the posterchild for the content bloat and vapid design that has crippled the open-world genre, while trashing Horizon Forbidden West, a game that tries to be the best possible version of the modern open-world game. You tell us to support Ubisoft, a corrupt publisher whose games have become corporate products with no actual value to them, and then write off indie developers who are making their first game ever, and tell people not to support them. Do you not see the damage that does? Do you not see how that enables the big guys to continue with the rot that’s killing this industry while hurting the people trying to keep it alive?
So Stray isn’t difficult. So fucking what? So it isn’t complicated. So. Fucking. What? It was not. Trying. To be those fucking things. It is unique, well-written, beautifully presented and delightfully creative. It soothes my anxiety and warms my heart. It gave my mind stuff to chew on narratively. Through that, this game added more value to my life than the entirety of Far Cry 2 through 5, which last many times as long and are much harder. Fuck it. I would even play this over Elden Ring (everyone’s favourite archetype for value from difficulty) because in 20 hours of that game all I have been is anxious and frustrated. There is a place for games like this, and to see someone with your reach tell people not to buy it because of antiquated and toxic gamer criteria just leaves my stomach in a knot. If you didn’t like it and felt it didn’t give YOU value for money personally, then fine, but don’t you tell other people not to support the little guys, punching down like a big-industry bully.
If anyone is still reading this ridiculous thesis, please: Buy this game if the trailer appealed to you. It is a lovely experience that will stick with you if you are capable of just sitting back and letting it do so. Fuck this take.
I bought the game on release day for full prize because I wanted to support the developers. When I saw the first video of this game I found it very appealing to play as a familiar animal and it turns out I wasn’t the only one 😉 I think it would be a smart move if a sequel would let you control a dog.
Using the same logic 🤔! Why should anyone watch your content even for free?
Too many L takes in the last few Months. gonna unsub
this game is refreshing and original and it changes from other games…i like it
Ehh, at the end of the day is still a walking simulator, but hey, it’s got a cat.
I thinks it’s a bad move to advise people not to support a game like this—that’s how future work and creative innovation get cancelled. Going past that: This game gave me a lot of ~depth~ of play that, hey, just isn’t going to be there for people who play games differently.
If you have a different way of how you interact with a game, of course you would personally find it easy or super-quick or mindless—if you’re only touching on the easy mindless parts and zipping through it. That’s clear from the variety of streams. And that’s absolutely fine. I’m hugely grateful Stray is the thing it is. Not a perfect thing, but I’d love to see where the devs go next, and I hope they build on all the aspects and layers entwined in it.
Definitely disagree. Buy the game, support the developers; they did a good job and deserve it
You just don’t get it, were you expecting a souls type game ? Why give out about it being easy? It isn’t a game that you’re meant to pull your hair out
This feels so much like baiting for views
Also.. I’d definitely sink 30 quid in a night out in 4 hours lmao, it’s quite common :’)
Seeing as we can’t see the dislikes, can I be the dislike button? 🙂
”Not my type of game, I didn’t like it, so don’t buy it”
It is better to have short game with good quality than have a stretched out grind
