22:44 dude talk about how mindless “Stray” is only to counter with Apex……that’s all you need to know folks.
I bought it and after playing it I’m glad I did. I got more than my money’s worth. So much love was poured into this game, the devs earned every penny and I’d happily buy DLC if it had the same quality and soul as the main game
@luke: Do you think maybe the game is targeted toward kids, at least in large measure? Though i mean honestly your job is to provide an opinion and you’re providing that. I will say though your kid is pretty young. Mine is 10, trust me your view of this will change in a few years 🙂 Let’s see though you can come find me back. I’m actually a witcher, rd2, and cyberpunk fan. So i tend to enjoy the more adult side of games myself and doubt i could get into this one personally. My kind will totally play this though. You generally give very good reviews even i don’t agree at times, and bring up interesting topics the specific conclusions drawn probably don’t need to align to have value. That said, i find 30 costly for any game. but i ‘d pay for it for my kid. i also didn’t like eldin ring and i know everyone else does. I found it too hard, and the narrative wasn’t very convincing, i just wasn’t buying the story. . It’s not my jam.
IN conclusion though nothing wrong with negative reviews. Your providing valuable data. I’m personally in your camp on this, but i don’t think that necessarily will apply to everyone. It’s probably not good for you and me, for some this is going to be perfect.
Hey Luke, have you tried the outer wilds? I’d love to hear your opinion on it.
Granted, I just started the video but the thumbnail and opening immediately put me in a weird space. Sooooo, a game that is doing great with the people playing it and is also generating good reviews and showing the effort that was put in shouldn’t be compensated?? Let’s circumvent the devs with PS Plus which isn’t very good at all, and screw them out of the extra $10 for no reason. Give it to Sony who still can’t even supply people with their own fucking consoles, what like a year and some change after the initial release?
I view it this way: Stray is a cute, unique, albeit linear experience from an indie studio who manages to showcase a whole lot with very little. It’s a brief, focused, and beautiful experience which most people can literally play for free. It’s a game people of all ages can find things to appreciate, and though it’s easy, it’s about the experience of the journey as the cat and his friend, not the overall challenge of completing it. It really isn’t that deep lol.
Yes Luke, shit on the little indie studio by telling people not to buy it, but continue to shill for ubisoft. You’re on the right track there bud.
I’ll always advocate supporting indie developers. They’re the ones in the gaming industry keeping gaming fresh and taking risks. I’d much rather give an indie dev my money than someone like EA; for a copy paste.. micro transaction filled mess.
So please guys, if you like what an indie dev is doing, please support them 🙂
I upgraded my current ps plus to premium for £8 due to it nearly being finished, so I played this at no extra cost. But I thought the game was great so I’m going to 100% buy the physical copy when it comes out.
It’s shit take after shit take with this man
I sure wouldnt buy a game thats 30 bucks for 5 hours of gameplay. Especially if its just a gimmick and mostly pretty graphics. I bet you if this was a shooter, it would be a bunch of people mad that its over priced. After all people get mad that 60 buck games are like 10 or 12 hours long…
What has the world come to? People are calling this game of the year? Are they out of their fucking minds? This game put me to sleep. It’s horrendously BAD! 1 of if not the worst game, I’ve ever had the displeasure of playing. Walking jumping cat simulator. Absolutely pathetic, attempt at a videogame. I honestly thought they may have been creative and made a truly special game. But no. So disappointed.
Yes, cats suck.
I don’t think STRAY can be looked at with Gameplay/Replay hours as a metric. It’s more of a one time experience, like watching a good movie. I did give it a shot, although the game is beautiful, it was not for me personally. But that doesn’t make the game less appealing to it’s core audience and the DEVs did a really good job, kudos to them. Judging STRAY on Replay hours and saying it doesn’t deserve the money, not sure if that’s the right way to look at it.
Opinions like this is why we don’t get many games that try something anymore, that are purely creative. If we as gamers don’t support games like stray (and support doesn’t necessarily mean buy, it means download, play, through the regular PS Plus subscription, talk about it online, recommend it to friends so many people check it out), we will only get FIFA and Madden and Call of Duty and Assassins Creed in the future –> the same, AAA microtransaction/lootbox/copy & paste games we get every year. Don’t get me wrong, I sometimes like these games too. But there has to be a balance.
And yeah, maybe Annapurna is not a small publisher, but the developer, BlueTwelve, is a small studio. Stray has it’s rough edges, but it’s sweet, it’s inoffensive, its full of charm and detail, and it’s creative. Is it a 10/10? Of course not. But it’s definitely worth a try for many gamers.
As long as it isn’t some freemium battle pass bullshit, support the devs if you like it
I agree the game is mindless, you just hold down spacebar and push in directions until the next cutscene. I’m not saying other people shouldn’t buy it or enjoy it but personally I have never felt so bored playing a game in my entire life.
Dude its $30
People are free to have their own opinion and I can see why some people might have the problems and opinions as Luke’s. But you can tell the amount of effort and love the devs put into this game with the environment, language, and even the behaviours of the cats. I’d say it’s good enough reasons to support them and show our appreciation by buying the game. It’s literally a fun and nice experience and idt the game being easy is an issue but helps the players have a much more enjoyable experience of the world of Stray. Again, your opinions are yours and mine is mine, appreciate each other’s opinions.
That’s really a fucked up mindset for this game. Don’t give these devs money because I didn’t like their cat game. Fuck their hard work and lives used to make this game.
I guess all that sponsor money ruined his brain.
My guy took the stage and expressed his opinion which the vast majority would disagree, and for that I respect you.
The only one I absolutely disagree with is “don’t buy the game” thing. I think the only time we’re allowed to say that is if it promotes a scam.
