Felt they really wasted their chance on a proper zurk-infested chapter and we absolutely should’ve gotten an “outside” chapter. I absolutely adored the game but for 30,- I just cant justify it as I finished it in 4 hours without any dilly-dallying. Even spent time on collecting all the music and just sleeping on the cushions while youtubing…

Dunkey just rated Stray for anywhere between a 5 to a solid 7 without putting a number on the screen and he’s (un)fortunately right. Just the game being a cat elevates its score and while the presentation is pretty good, it is very much not amazing and for how short the game is, the devs really blew it with the lack of content. Stray is like a developer’s first game with semblances of greatness that should’ve been scored ~5-7/10 by everybody, EVENTUALLY leading up to being a great game some 2 or 3 games later down the line by the same developer, but because it has a cat in it (and we all know the rules of the internet about cats), it has its score artificially blown out of proportions. That’s still very good for the devs – I’m sure they’ve got way more money they normally would if the game didn’t have a cat starring as the MC, but now they better fucking deliver a truly amazing experience whenever they do decide to publis their 2nd game, because this is an overadored and overinflated “okay” game at best.

Dunky you should try the game rainworld. It’s an openworld 2d game where you play as a cat + slug hybrid in an extremely harsh cruel world. Most of your complaints about Stray are perfected in that game

It sucked that he had so many bugs show up. I never even had one show in my entire playthrough. It was really as smooth as butter for me.

I did play through at a slow pace though and not take as many right corners straight up. Shame about the objects having no weight though. That I did notice.

Overall though I was happy because of a solid aesthetic, decent sound design and overall fun animations. I’d have liked it to be longer with more polish but still worth it to me.
