Stray is kind of a mindless relaxing sort of game, it would have been a lot better with more puzzle-type mechanics. Only once did I not know what to do and that’s because they literally didn’t tell you what to do at one point. But I mean I love cats so it’s still amusing to play, but repeatable? ehhhh

I agree with most of this, although I encountered significantly less bugs and glitchy movement on steam (I swear the robots had a stairs animation so idk). I don’t have a PS5. I loved this game for it’s novelty. Plus, I like pretty games, and this game is PRETTY.

Thanks for the honest review here, I’ve been seeing this game get a lot of praise mainly for its aesthetic and gimmick of being a cat (Which is a valid reason to enjoy something, and the cat is very well animated.) but from an actual gameplay perspective it didn’t look like there was much below the surface, and it kind of came off as more of a “Streamer react” game than something you play yourself.
Ironically, I feel like part the problem with this game from what I’ve seen is it doesn’t lean hard enough into the fact that you’re a cat from a narrative perspective, you end up feeling like a human in a cat body that cares about the problems of these strangers you just met.
I’m glad this game exists and I applaud the success of an Indie dev for making something that resonated with people, but I can tell it’s not for me and that’s ok. (I’m more of a Bugsnax person myself.)
