They sure did simulate most animations great. And you get to be the cat, but then they immediately forget you’re just a cat and suddenly you’re a bipolar human stuck in a cat’s body. With a backpack, inventory system and a needless companion cause every single thing has to be said directly to you in English leaving nothing unclear, nothing vague, no space for interpretation.

This was definitely not what I expected. I expected Journey but with a cat. Mirrors Edge but with a cat. Inside but with a cat.
What I got was Nine-Life: Automata but with basically no gameplay and the whole concept of you being a cat being in complete disjointment from the story. It’s like an RPG maker game but the player sprite is just switched to a cat and the graphics, sound and design is pretty.

Not bad, just… disappointing.

My name is cat lover k and though i liked being a cat, the game kinda plays itself. It plays to the sentiment of watching a cat doing adorable things. And i did have a crash, i rubbed on a robot’s leg and the cat was stuck walking forward in place i couldn’t pause the game or exit had to force close. This game is the section in games where you parkour on ledges that are laid out of you. For example Uncharted, Horizon zero dawn, ghost of tsushima and Sekiro it looks cool to parkour around from platforms to ledges but you never get to follow your own intuition or your own sense of exploration so you are never rewarded with discovery. stray feels like you are on a train track going in one direction. Maybe I’m spoiled by action and open world games, and the free climbing and stuff but there are linear games where i walk off the path and come across some collectibles or little easter eggs like in wolfenstein or journey, in those games you look around and you will find more and more details. This game would have been a masterpiece with some hidden collectible items and maybe even side activities, they had a good idea with the basketball they could have had a mini game just on that idk
