Bang on, it’s IMHO a good game but it has warts and isn’t perfect. The wife and myself notably hated the ending, it went from 0-20 and then 20-100 and then 100-0 really quickly and the first chapter IMHO was the only one that really felt fleshed out to some degree with the later chapters just going by so incredibly quickly. Hell that last chapter had no threats, no real puzzles, and it took more time to advance through the third chapter than it did to complete the last chapter.

There should of been a lot more overall involvement in investigation / puzzle solving, the interaction with B-12 should of been autonomous and simply as a hint-system acting as a passive translator instead of an active participant in communication.

The chapter system also felt cheap, you are “locked out” from going back to other areas simply because the entrance / exit is closed off behind you; no reason why that should of been the case, just let us roam from one area back & fourth with short-cuts discovered along the way.

Graphically it was great, the cat animations were more than acceptable, the content was short, and the gameplay was rudimentary.

Really big missed opportunity that they didn’t actually have you save the world entirely by accident just by prowling around doing cat things

I couldn’t agree more. This is the perfect review for this game. I cried a few times tho. Especially towards the end.

Awesome video. I’m going to regret saying this, but I’m curious about what you’ll think of the Live A Live remake on switch. I know you don’t normally like JRPGs, but this really is a good game with a great story. Basically, it’s what Octopath Traveler was trying to be, but succeeds at it.

I actually liked the dialogue, and I say that as someone who tends to not like dialogue. It brought in lots of interesting sci-fi themes and gave the robots a lot of character. It’s also interesting how expectations can change how you see a game. I went into it knowing it was a game made by like 15 people and I was constantly blown away by the graphics. I didn’t even think to criticize the animations or physics objects, even though in a naughty dog game that’s something I’d be super aware of.
