lol a lot of Chinese gaming “censorship” are based on unfounded rumors and never goes into effect. Genshin made like 5 femboys now after those “no feminine men” news came around that even big outlets picked up. Why? Because they never bothered to say the source was some random presentation with no authority at all.

I played all my games without ever knowing, deeply, who the devs are, Stray included. I just want to play their games. During the paint can tipping tutorial section I noticed a familiar sound that I heard a lot in my place: the recoded sound of swallows chirping on loop. I was surprised by this and immediately wondered whether this game is set in some Asian locale. I haven’t gone far in the game and only noticed Asian iconography in the game from Youtube videos.
There’s a cottage industry here where people built buildings where swallows can make their nests in. The nests are later harvested and imported to China. The core of these structures are the loud speakers blaring with swallows chirping to attract live birds. They are banned in residential areas and town centers due to the sound pollution and the health concerns from the heavy concentration of birds.
