it’s not like japan kinda invented cyberpunk and its often referenced as “tokyo cyberpunk” concept in many expositions because dissociating japan or east asian culture from cyberpunk is nearly impossible either because of it’s aesthetics like decaing yet faintly persistent traditional elements as bombori or visually bombarding neons and huge screens or social themes like constant artificial pleasure seeking, precarization, deteriorization of social relationships or preying weird cults invented from nowhere popping out everywhere everyday like pimples on teen skin or anything.
