It is a problem because initiator are too strong but it isn’t a big problem we have to worry about. It’s not like they are way too op it’s still playable but unbalanced.
i think if riot games introduces more champs, then champ select will probably look like the draft in league of legends
TMV I thought you usually rank Breach lower than A tier?
i feel seen and i feel heard. i’ve been saying this for a long time. information in this game isn’t like super necessary but it gives a lot of advantage. yeah, you can play duelist, create space and get kills, but you need an initiator to make a smart move and not just go in blindly. yeah, you can be a sentinel and defend the site, but you need to take it first. that’s why it makes sense to have 2 initiators: if one dies, at least you have another one. and in clutch situations initiators are the best and most versatile (sentinel on attack can easily defend the taken site but can’t retake it on defence), especially with the rechargeable E-ability. so when the 3-initiator comps came around, i was super glad cause it just shows that pro players finally started getting it?
Won’t the game be more fun if all agents are good instead of making all of them bad?
I think you should differentiate between info initiators (Sova and Fade) and flash initiators (Kayo, Breach and Skye). If you think of them as 2 separate classes it seems the game is pretty banced
I think one of the main reason is because chamber OP is so strong, you need the extra flush utility to flush out the OP and force him back. As far as the game goes I think double initiator would be the best to double up for game pacing and to watch.
🦀🦀🦀🦀GOATS IS GONE🦀🦀🦀🦀
Pro play is the worst way to judge characters and how good they are that’s .01% of the player base and your acting like the game should get needed and buffed based on them and that’s just dumb
I think the inherit problem isn’t the other classes being too underpowered the problem is that initiators are much more valuable to a team because of the info they give. Info is the name of the game in a game like valorant
If you think double initiator was a good comparison to GOATS, it’s not. Viper/Astra was the meta that got close. That was the worst combo meta I’ve ever played and I never want to see it again.
I think that riot has already started addressing this issue by putting in the flash nerfs to initiators to be more team-focused. By making initiators more combo/team-focused it already makes it more difficult to run triple initiator comps, without sacrificing a duelist. Info will always be king in valorant so I suspect there’s never going to be a meta where an initiator is sacrificed.
Also – when it comes to pro play initiator comps will likely have a much higher ceiling than duelist comps or smoke comps because of the value initiators get from teamplay and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. pro play will never mimic pugs and its okay for certain agents to occupy space as a pug agent (reyna) or a pro agent (breach)
I think it’s just because the initiator role is just split up between “flasher” and “recon”. You could make good arguments for splitting the initiator class in two
I don’t think having double initiator being a must pick is necessarily bad. I have felt for a while that some initiators do too many things too well (e.g Kay/o being soo good at supporting, entrying, and gaining info) as I believe you have touched on before. Riot has seemed to take note of this and has responded by buffing the duelists flashes and nerfing the initiators’ selfish flashes. I wouldn’t mind seeing more variety compositionally, but I think that is more about the individual agents rather than issues with the role as a whole
I don’t think its a problem until 4-5 initiators is the meta. In my games people just instalock duelists and afk after 5 losses anyway. Initiators provide a lot of value to a team, but at the end of the day they still have to play with the team to get good value from their utility. Initiators are in a good spot rn. They just need to buff cypher and remove KO from the game.
The problem might be solved by changing class to Sova and Fade from initiator.
I feel this comes from info obviously being very important and I know r6 siege struggled from this (back when I played), where info agents were just dominating. and with valorant’s initiators it’s also helped by the fact that we have two types of initiators: flashers and “revealers” it seems. so perhaps having an agent that does both would help, but it may also make it worse. 😀
I dont see a problem. There needs to be two agents of some role and in last Act it was double initiator most of the time because teams wanted vision(sova/fade)+Flashers who are just as good as duelists (skye kayo).
Maybe initiator as a role should be split into vision(sova fade) and disablers(breach kayo). Skye is kinda hybrid.
Overall pro team comp seems to be: awper(jett/chamber), vision, smoker and 2 flex picks.
this problem will be fixed with hybrid agents which we’ve been seeing a lot lately. agents which basically are part of two different roles. these types of hybrid agents have only been initiators/duelist combos like Kay/o but we should be expect more like controller and dulist hybrids which may be far more viable in pro play.
Initiator are good at stalling in post plant and the extra util is always welcome.
