I guess when yoru is used as a movement/entry tool onto site, it is a lot harder to locate defenders on the way, unlike double satchelling or jett dashing into site
It’s more about what Raze, Jett and Neon can do for site entry better than Yoru, than Yoru being bad.
Coz I don’t think he’s bad. It’s just about teams preferring other agents over him as they’re easy to do the job with
Maybe they can just make Yoru’s TP as fast as Chamber’s. Might be annoying or cringe but I’m just saying the cinematic trailer showed that Yoru can TP fast to dodge the bullets of Jett.
Was playing yoru today in Mumbai server… logged in on an alt account which was S3 ranked… got 17 kills with knife only in comp… I believe yoru is an agent with highest skill ceiling and if reached the maximum potential, can absolutely obliterate the enemy with mind games
Yorus definitely at the best he’s ever been as a character but I feel like the plays he makes, while could have good reward, is just way too risky. A common play for him is a flash into a tp, could take a kill, but is risky as you’re almost always behind enemy lines, and ANGE1 got punished for that. I feel like a good buff would be for him to be able to place down 2 teleport spots and have different buttons to teleport to each of them, and after teleporting to one, for about like 5 seconds or so you can teleport to the other almost instantly just like a chamber tp, could make the opponents respect it even more than they already do, and would even help the fake tps more
I feel like yoru is fine on his own and buffing him more would result to another Jett problem. Yoru exist for another dimension in strategies and overall comp diversity. Of course a strat that has been identified is easily countered, however when will you be expecting that strat to even be played in your match? The problem with PRX in general is that they rely on a certain strat that is impactful early in the tournament but later gets easily countered due to teams adjusting. If they focus utilizing other strats on a competitive level, then their team would truly be world class in this level of play. I believe that Yoru is not the problem but the teams overusing the strat that it becomes predictable. I know that some strats are better than others however with an arsenal of strats where the planning is also a mind game would bring the valorant competitive scene higher.
I think yoru will always be a relatively risky niche pick but I also think that it is healthy for those agents to be in the game
Consistency is extremely important in Valorant, especially in professional games, and I believe Yoru is one of the most inconsistent agent in the game. Yes, he’s fun, and the chaos he creates is great in ranked games, but not so much in pro games. I believe Reyna is similarly inconsistent in terms of performance because she is so reliant on kills. If Yoru can’t capitalize on the chaos he creates and fool the enemy, and Reyna can’t get the kills she needs to snowball, both of them are rendered nearly useless in professional games.
I will say, FPX vs PRX also came down to gun-play in most cases IMO but I think with Yoru he seems to be in a solid spot with Bind and Breeze (and somewhat Fracture I suppose). I actually think its healthy if the agent has more niche roles on maps rather than a must pick so I guess the question would be does Yoru need more buffs or do the other Duelists need nerfs?
Yeah he’s really good but really just a surprise pick in the pro scene. Its been fun watching him see play but after this every team is probably ready to counter him. I have ideas like what if they make Yoru’s tp function like his ult, when you teleport you can move a little bit like your unequipping your ult and instead of his gate crash being visible his gate crash just inflict a visual effect to any enemy with LOS, or allow the tp to bounce off walls? Able to be steered? But as you said its not a alarming problem. Further changes might making him too overpowered for uncoordinated play. This is just unfortunate since he brings a different kind of entertainment in the pro scene, after this we’re definitely back with the same three duelists, four if you count chamber.
exactly why you should be changing your playstyle every few rounds. sure, maybe in casual comp games one trick might work for a two rounds or three, but in pro play you have to constantly change your setup. sometimes you would play passive and defend spike from back, sometimes you can play aggressive angles and tp back to safety if needed, a really strong tactic that little yoru mains use is faking being a place that you even aren’t in, what i mean by that is, for example, you’re attacking on icebox on b.and you have a tp and/or a clone behind yellow. its a 1v2 and you have no info on where the other players are, and you are in kitchen. seems very situational but its really not. you get into heaven and you can a. aggro peek the 2 enemies or flash and tp and risk dying due to man advantage, or b. fake the teleport, throw a fake flash that bounce of the wall (since enemies can’t see where your flash comes from), and have both enemies look towards yellow, then its basically a free win assuming you don’t whiff your shots. my point is, yoru requires you to be very creative and keep your enemies second guessing themselves.
These intros that you have been doing in your last few videos are so good. I think this is really going to help grow your channel and normal viewers can still get the TMV type of video. Good work, keep it up!!
A possible yoru change that i can think of is changing the pathing of the tp orb.
An example is that you can change the direction of the tp orb once when it is travelling. Basically a change that allow yoru to tp deep into site or spawn, with a higher level of unpredictability (e.g. you send the tp orb from bind bath, and the pathing allows you to get the tp orb to heaven, or it can get to bind defender spawn when attacking).
Balance that with a louder tp sound, and you can actually create tps that could create strong mind game scenarios. May be abit too OP though.
Maybe not all agents need to be META. Some of them just need to be fun.
I think they should allow him to send two gatecrash points without having to activate one already so that he can choose where to teleport and increase the level of uncertainty. Teleporting to one should automatically fake the other point and maybe they should remove the timer on those altogether as well.
Other than that, I don’t like the gimmicky clone flash. In my opinion, they should put some sort of mark on the back of the clone so that the opponent can be sure it’s not the real Yoru once they see the clone’s back. It might be fun for Yoru’s but I think it’s just a cheesy tactic
I think that him being niche and difficult to get major utility out of, but very satisfying or unpredictable when you do get value, is okay for the game. It’s worse because we have less agents than a Siege or League of Legends but as the roster grows, having some niche picks or pub-stompers who don’t show up in pro play pretty much ever (see Reyna) is only inevitable. He’s fun to bring out and could throw off team prep if they have a pocket Yoru that is able to slot in anywhere and him not showing up is fine because not every agent will always be viable or above a 15% pick rate. He’s also still just inherently powerful in game in ranked, so buffing him much or changing him again wouldn’t be a great idea.
Maybe if yoru’s tp has a radius that can detect opponents near it. That would be dope. Info gathering duelist why not.
I feel like riot just halfassed Yoru’s design and then overtuned his kit when people started to complain. Now he’s overpowered in niche situations but there’s no consistency. There’s no reliable way to fake info with him, which I feel should have been his core feature. At his current state I feel like he doesn’t fit into a ‘tactical shooter’
