Pros will lean towards the vandal in the upcoming tournaments since Split which is obviously a phantom map, will be removed.
Tbh this just shows how well riot balanced these two guns
8:57 This NRG vs GHST clip looks insane, which match was this?
I thought about the NRG Game as well, so I think if more people start using only light Shields we could see a resurgence in Phantom popularity
Buff phantom from 124 to 125 in long range and they would be even. Vandal is better rn
basically, since now players are using more light shields on full buys, people are gonna buy phantoms, in response, people are going to buy full shields, in response to that response, people are going to buy vandals to not get 1 in 140 and the cycle repeats, until riot releases or buffs a controller to broken levels, then the phantom will be mostly picked. This just shows that no matter which gun you choose, both are viable as hell and personal preference matters a lot more, look at someone like bang, he still buys phantom which you might think it’s because the plays controller, but dapr who doesn’t even play controller is using phantom on breeze of all maps
I hear people always day the vandal is better then the phantom, but the phantom is easier. This is simply not true. Most people dont know but the phantom can actually shoot two bullets every counter strafe if you time it perfectly. This means if you have perfect timing, even in long range the gun is better, if you hit them with the first bullet the 2nd is guaranteed (they can’t move before the next bullet is fired). While the timing is pretty hard for this (harder then just one tapping at least) its more effective. I think the phantom will become meta again once this becomes more mainstream. The only person I’m aware has mastered this is noted.
the thing people aren’t talking about is aim punch. aim punch on a phantom means that 8 to 9 out of 10 times you kill someone after the phantom dink. if there was no aim punch in the game then this would make more sense
I switched to Vandal around 3 months ago too, I’m starting to see a pattern 🤔
I’m one of those guys that exclusively uses Guardian. I am by no means a god with it, in fact I miss a lot, but it helps my crosshair placement and price drop means that I always have access to the weapon.
My strat is not have full util on pistol round, and should we win (even better if I get a kill or spike is planted), then next round I can go full shields and Guardian, and with the enemies most likely going half shields, two body shots becomes stupid strong,
6:25 is it because enemy team has no healer?
Nothing to do with the actual subject of the video, but damn that transition was smooth 3:22
Another point is, that split, which is full of close corners (=>phantom map), got removed from the mappool
this might just be me but i feel more confident with a vandal in my hands than a phantom
I have moved back to the vandal 2 weeks ago and found massive success with it. I guess bigger maps and aim improvement from playing does make the vandal much more reliable. But i still opted for the phantom on the defense side on some smaller maps or if i’m playing a smoker.
Interesting take. I think it’s more about “this map that we are playing, does it have more close narrow spots which you can run phantom on” or just general feel of that day, honestly.
Also Breeze example has all to do with long distance fights where Vandal is much better choice, hence that pick rate. But if I run let’s say Neon on Haven I like phantom I don’t know why it’s just a general feel. Nothing to do with smoke bullet tracers unless I play Viper and I’m ulting. If I’m unlucky that day I will get spammed thru 3 smokes and 2 walls so all good. GEEEE GEEEE
For me to put it simply :
Phantom are better statistically ( more mags , better fire rate , more forgiving recoil , no bullet tracer , better first bullet accuracy).
But Vandal are better practically ( one tap potential , no fall range damage ).
Very cool thanks 🔥🔥🔥
i feel like the fact, that the vandal, even without headshotting, kills quicker at 15m+ is also a huge factor. At that point really only the tracers are an advantage and its not a big one compared to oneshotting / killing faster
I tend to heavily swap between phantom and vandal depending on which agent I am playing, and which part of the map I expect to be fighting in.
