The “sensory overload” is actually pretty similar to how actual cats feel when in unfamiliar locations. There’s so many new noises and smells and lights that often cats will feel terrified, and hide. This is why when you get a new kitty, it’s best to introduce them to your home slowly, and allow them to come out of their shell naturally.
